I run a pub and need to think of an event.

Speed dating
karaoke to a live band or a spoof on American Idol that could actually help some singer get a start
open mic for bluegrass/Celtic musicians (always seems to attract a bunch of drunks),
Dart or pool leagues
Mug club and specialty beer/pricing
Battle of the bands
Dance competitions are in right now.. maybe swing or ballroom dance competition
"taste of..." have area restaurants participate in a food sampling
Beer or wine tasting
Theme nights: Pajama party, Pimp & Ho's night, Pirate Party, Mardi Gras night, Casino night (not real money, but win prizes via auction with play money), high-school reunion spoof, etc.
Poker night (Texas Hold 'em is huge now)
Comedy Night.... maybe even amateur comedy
sports are big... but everyone does that... maybe "fantasy sports"
People do to a pub to relax and mingle... play up on that. What helps you relax? Maybe a massage, or a comfy chair, or a cigar lounge... what are ways to make people mingle?

good bar food, like fried shrooms, paired with a drink special, a beer on tap for the guys and a mixed drink, maybe a madras, for the ladies. add to that a good jukebox and some pool tables and me and my wife are as happy as pigs in sh*t... good luck . whats the name of your pub, maybe I'll stop by.....
