He sometimes tells me that I'm great, and that he enjoys talking to me. We get on very well. We laugh a lot together, and have various in-jokes. We tend to think in the same way, and often say things the other was about to say. We're friends, but I can't tell if he likes me as more than a friend. He's a few years older than me, and he says he's shy and he doesn't meet many women in his normal life. I once told him that no one ever likes me as more than a friend and he said 'I'm sure there are those who care deeply but don't express it'. How much should I read into that? He's the sort of person who everyone gets on well with, and he has lots of friends, but I think he talks to me more than a lot of those, and we have more deep and meaningful conversations! I don't live near him, so I don't see him in person very often, but we often chat on MSN messenger. Short of asking him (which I don't have the confidence to do), how can I tell what he thinks of me?

sounds like he likes you, but you gotta put yourself out there and ask him out if he won't do it.

Hello Cathmerine,
I'm sorry, but you will never be able to know if there's something more in your relationship unless you can both talk about it. You said that you can talk, but it sounds like you can't seem to express what you are feeling inside, and that's really the important part.
You said that he's shy, so he probably isn't going to make the first move, so you need to be the one to take the chance. Simply tell him that you have enjoyed his friendship, but you were wondering where this is leading.
That might be all that you need to say to him. Hopefully he will confess that he's been wanting to be a little more but wasn't sure how to approach it with you. He might also just want to be friends for now, and that's OK, since you've said that you like being friends with him. There's really no pressure.
Best of luck to you.

Ah ha... If he wanted to be more than friends you'd know by now. All that chat about being shy, is rubbish, it's just his way of saying I like you as a friend and nothing more.
Example: I have a male friend who's quite shy when it comes to ladies, he liked this girl and took 2 weeks to pluck up the courage to ask her out, she politely turned him down. He didn't give up, he waited a while and asked her again a few months later, they are now getting married next month!!
I've just finished reading a VERY good book called "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg Behrendt & Lizz Tuccillo, I recommend it to all ladies unsure about what guys think. It's liberated the way I now think of relationships with guys and has stopped me over analizing and frying my brain!!
God bless and good luck...x

What is that old saying - crap, or get off the pot. Stop beating around the bush and wondering. Believe in yourself. Have the confidence to know, that even if he is not interested - it is not the end of the world. There are plenty of others out there.
Now stop driving yourself (and us) crazy with "what ifs" - and just do.

Really that's for you to use you women intuition if you think that he has the hot for you go for it .I mean if he doesn't you will be a little embarrassed but you wont waste your time trying to take it there and you still could be friends.

Tell him there's someone that you really like and you don't know how to tell them, ask his advice.
Also say that your not sure what they'll say if you tell them, and read as much as you can into how he responds to that, good luck xxx
