methane gas in a barrel full of dung can provide power for a small stove, imagine the septic tanks in waste treatment plants.

It should be pretty easy to break down the refining process and show 1) all the different products that are made from crude oil and 2) the process of how this is done. You'll be able to find a lot of cool pictures and make a lot of visual aides with this one too. It would be easy to show how these products are obtained, made, used and disposed of. Essentially the life cycle of crude oil from the time it leaves the Earth to the time it's emitted into the air and everything in between.

Pollution is a terrible word.

Do a project where half the class are prepared to surpress the third world to prevent them producing CO2 and the other half defend the right of the third world to produce CO2 to get them out of poverty, death and squalor.

this is not an easy topic ........

By the way Zy, NOx and CO2 are required by our bodies.... more muddle.......

You might do an analysis of how a tree removes CO2 and other gasses from the air and converts them to cellulose. It would be cool if you could also provide some info as to what the conversion rate from CO2 to cellulose is in a particular tree species.

Talk about how Hydrogen can only be used to transfer energy from one place to another, but cannot be a clean source of energy because there has to be a dirty source of energy to generate that hydrogen to begin with.

Talk about how the dirty sources of energy (right now predominantly oil) is running out, and we're going to have to resort to burning more coal again which will release tons more CO2.

An interresting thing might be researching to see how long scientists and governement have known how to create vehicles that run on others sources of energy, and yet have not tried to implement them...and why.

Do a presentation on how pollutants get into our system and destroy us. Like the evils that NOx, CO2 and other stuff do to our bodies :)
