I'd like to change that slightly. "The more it is written, the more people believe it." The difference is widespread belief does not always equal the truth.

The more that is written by one person.

In each case I could give you both a yes and no answer.

It depends on the source. If it is many respected historians citing eye witness accounts, yes. If it is a few regular people, no.
