If you are a contientious owner and keep clean and healthy animals, what's the harm? I sleep with all 4 of my dogs ever night, and all I do is put an old sheet over the bedspread to make hair removal easier. I don't get as much room as they do, but they are much happier for it.

I don't allow it just coz it's not a pack leader thing to do. But, I have had a Yorkie or two that did before I got hooked on Cesar Millan and they never gave me anything. We use Frontline and bathe them once a week. My guess is it's a personal perference. If you have the fleas under control I don't see a problem.

I can't imagine my life with cats and not having several of them on my bed during the day or the night.
Cats need to be treated for fleas. A monthy application of Advantage or Frontline should take care of that. A healthy cat does not smell and is very fastidious about its grooming.
I need to learn something about scabies. I have long thought that only ringworm (and that is a nasty) was contagious between ourselves and the felines we love.

My cats don't have any paricites, or fleas, so I like sleeping with them in the bed. Sometimes they take over the bed. When I had cats with fleas they did sleep with me as well but I got more fleas from walking around the house than I ever got in my bed.
I think sleeping with animals can be fine as long as you don't let them rule, and make sure they don't have any paricites, because you don't want them in your house or in your bed.

When I was a teen I had a cat that would crawl up on my pillow sometimes and do this kneeding like action with his paws in my hair. When my girl friends slept over they thought he was being mean but I know he was just being loving. I do not know what it was called, but it did not hurt even though sometimes he did extend his claws a bit. well that is my only pet in the bed story

My kitty sleeps with me and I've never gotten anything from him. Keep up on the flea and worm medication, and if you are really finicky, you can wipe their paws with water or pet safe cleaner.

hey hun....we have several pets and they like to sleep with us...they had fleas but the fleas never got on us until we treated the animals and put them out side for a day or two....the only reason fleas will get on people is if the host (your pet) is out of the picture for several days and they have nothin' else to chew on....love daisy

our cats always sleep with us, only way we would be able to keep them from doing that is if we kept them in their crates all night and that wouldn't be very nice. our cats have never had fleas, and have a less likely chance of getting them because we are good cat owners and keep them INSIDE!
