Yea. "Peeling and flaking of a new tattoo is perfectly normal. Before it actually begins to peel, the tattoo will look like it's covered with a whitish, cracking film. Then you'll see white or translucent flakes of old, dead skin start to peel off and some of the flakes may even contain some ink. Sometimes you can actually see a duplicate image of part of your tattoo peeling off - it's rather disconcerting, but it is also perfectly normal and there is no need to panic. It's a lot like a snake shedding its skin. Just add a little lotion (a LITTLE) to the tattoo to help keep it moist and encourage those flakes to come off. Do NOT scratch, pick or peel them. It will all be done in a few days and the color of your tattoo will start to return to normal. "
By the by, what is the tattoo of, if u dont mind!

I have 4 tattoos, and yes the skin is suppose to peel. Your artist should have explained that to you. DO NOT peel the skin off, that will take the color from the tattoo. Instead, make sure you put a lot of lotion or ink fix on it. make sure you keep it uncovered as much as possible so that air can get to it and help it heal faster and infection can not get trapped in it.

Yes.
The skin has been damaged and is repairing it's self. The "peel" will subside. Follow the instructions that were given to look after it in the interim, monitor it to see that you don't have a reaction to the inks. If the tattoo is in a place where it is exposed to sunlight, get into a habit of putting sunblock on it to retain the freshness of the colours, once it has healed completely.

a lot of times it will, the skin on top will die from the abrasive needles. If it seems like a LOT of skin call your artist and ask them.
Some people peel more than others :)
Make sure when it's done peeling to go back and get any touchups you may need, most artists will do a free touch up session 2 weeks after the tattoo :)

yep but keep that skin soft and dry.
don't pick it!
:D good luck.
OH stay away from the sun for a while.. if you got to go out or want to tan yourself cover that tender area! sun screen won't be enough.. that tattoo in order to get it toughened up will have to take over a year...
i should know i have a full body suit of ink.... sun, lifting weights, picking at it, putting on too much skin creams and sunscreens will effect the way it looks.
i usually don't get it out in the sun for any amount of time until 3 years later... direct sunlight and skin that's been fussed with to that extent don't like one another too well.
if you feel the urge to scratch, put on something that is suppose to stop itching.. let the too' breathe also.

Yeah, no worries. A little peeling is part of the healing process. Just remember to keep lotion on it so the colors don't fade!

Obviously this is your first tattoo! The skin will peel and flake off and stuff. You have to keep it moisturized with lotion/vaseline, or whatever they prescribed for you to put on it! It will look gross until it's all healed.

I recently just got a tattoo, and the main thing they told us was to keep it out of water until it is healed. Also, the guy told us not to use neosporin, just an unscented lotion. It's going to peel because its like a scab, little flakes of it should come off. If it looks like the color is peeling off, it might be infected. You should call the tattoo parlor where you got it done and ask them what is normal. They've done tons of tattoos, so they will know!

speaking from experience ( 6 tatoos) thats perfectly normal. This happens because your skin is healing, don't pick any scabs or itch as this will remove the ink.
