There are new all-natural brands on the market. They have less fillers, so pups/dogs get full faster and have less waste (poo). Also, it's great for preventing allergic reactions. It may be more expensive, but not really, considering the benefits and advantages.

I also like IAMS Smart Puppy and large breed formulas.

See sources for brands of all-natural dog food.

Look for a brand that has meat or fish as the first ingredient and some type of carbohydrate such as potato or barley as the second. Avoid foods that use by-products or corn. These are cheap fillers for the dog food company and have no nutritional value for your dog.

I feed Natural Balance Venison and Brown Rice Formula. My dog has a great coat, good skin, is healthy. I use one 17 pound bag every 5 weeks for a 75 pound dog.

There are many brands of dog food that you will find suitable for your dog. It's important to look at the ingredients in the dog food that you plan on giving your dog.

I've heard excellent reviews on solid gold, chicken soup for the pet lover's soul, Wellness, Eagle pack, I give mine Wysong.

I suggest you go to a pet food supply store and get samples, you can take them home and see which ones your dog likes.

Do some research, dog food there are sites online where you can compare dog foods, just make sure to scrutinize all the information, just make sure that you remember that dog food brands are going to do studies which help them to sell their food, read the labels carefully, there are indexes online that tell you what animal by-product and other such terms actually mean.

Good luck

avoid iams, science diet, eukanuba, grocery store brands and ANYTHING containing CORN.

the first ingredient should be meat (NOT meat byproduct), and instead of corn look for rice. corn is undigestable...

iams, euk, scidi and grocerystore brands contain byproducts (usually intestines, beaks, feet and the stuff people cant eat) and excessive amounts of corn, not only undigestable but also tend to be a major allergen in dogs. many are also pererved witha a chemical known to cause cancer...

for a pit id suggest either a raw diet, innova evo or something similar, your going to pay more for it, but youll find your dog is in MUCH better condition for it!
again look for chicken, lamb, duck or veal as they very first ingredient, and there should be absolutly NO CORN in the ingredients list.

dont feed a pit a large breed formular, they are large built but not a LARGE breed, they grow too quickly for a large breed formular.

I have a old and a half year old 50 lb. pitbull she eats Purina Dog Chow (well you should actually use Purina Puppy Chow until she turns one) and she is beautiful and very muscular.

Also try feeding your dog one peanut butter sandwich once a day this makes them have beautiful fur and also helps with the muscle tone.
