Eternal is forever. In the Greek it is everlasting. Eternal life is not given and taken by Jesus. We choose our destination not God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. It is so easy to blame for what we do. Those of us who have children will find that when one breaks something and we say OK who did this, I don't know, he did it, she did it. Even as children we choose not to say I did it for fear of punishment from our parents. Instead we choose to lie, or accuse another.

Yes, Catholicism is biblical, but Roman Catholics, Eastern Rite Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants and non-denominationals all interpret the bible differently. Catholics also follow Tradition, which in itself is biblical: See: 1 Corinthians 11:1-2, Philippians 4:9, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Timothy 2:2. These verses, as well as others, tell Christians to follow the teachings of apostles and disciples - teachings that were not written. For the salvation part of the question: In the bible it says repeatedly that we will be judged by our deeds. It's logically inconsistent to say we will be judged by our deeds but then say that our deeds have no bearing on our salvation. "The first Christians were all bible believers" - The new testament bible didn't exist in the time of the first Christians. You'll have to look into it for yourself about which version of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) you'd want to use. Protestants use the Hebrew/Aramaic version because in about ad 90 a Jewish council or rabbis decided that the Greek version of the bible (the Septuagint) shouldn't be used. This seems like a good reason for Protestants to say Christians shouldn't use it either, and maybe it is. But the New Testament writers (who wrote most of the books of the new testament before a.d. 90) used the Septuagint when they quoted the Hebrew Bible. It's up for debate whether they quoted from the Apocrypha (extra books of the greek version of the hebrew bible) or not. Some Catholics and Orthodox say they did, Protestants think they didn't. There's way too much to explain here about that, so you'll have to decide whether you think the Catholic Bible should be used, or the Protestant Bible. The important thing to know is, even though there are differences between Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and Non-denominationals, they are all Christians - they all follow Christ.

Life can be eternal, and salvation on God's end is eternal, but we are responsible for keeping our salvation in tack. How we do this is by keeping the commandments, seeking forgiveness daily for our sins, continued repentance of those sins and turning from sin. Salvation is an on going process on our ends, something that needs to be worked on minute by minute day by day. If we do not do as I stated above(as God instructs) we have placed our salvation in jeopardy

If I have a watch with a 20-year guarantee, but I throw it away, does it still have a 20-year life? If people throw away their gift of salvation, there's nothing wrong with the gift. The Bible clearly states that you can lose your salvation - and that's even worse than neve being saved in the first place (2 Peter 2:20-22).

When you accept Jesus Christ into your heart, you are saved from Hell and your sin. If you ask for forgiveness Jesus will take away your sin. When you are saved by Jesus, your salvation is indeed eternal. you will be with Christ in Heaven when you die if you accept him as your personal Savior, FOR ETERNITY (forever and ever).
