Is there a Mosque near where you live? Maybe they can help, because I think it would be kind of odd if you convert to Islam from the internet.

Nothing...I would say nothing to you to make you convert. Islam is not like Christianity, where to my understanding always wants to try and convert people to Christianity as they believe it is the right path, you earn points in heaven etc.
The only thing that Islam teaches is, to always tell the truth. If you are curious about Islam and have any questions about it, then ask and hopefully (Don’t know if you can get it through yahoo answers) you can get the RIGHT answer.
In Islam, there is no "Trying to convert people to Islam" we are told to only spread the truth i.e. you say what is right and truthful, based on the Qur'an and the teachings of the prophet Muhammad (May peace and blessings be upon him)
The other party can accept it or not, it is up to you to decide which way you want to go…”there is no compulsion in religion” it is between you and God and that’s that. Simple.
Don’t know what the fuss is about….
ps: Just incase THERE ARE questions, I have given a link where I think can be useful for anyone, if you scroll down, there are books authorized by Dr. Zakir Naik, you can download them and read them for your self :)

Nice question. Please know that it is an individual's duty to look deeply within him/herself and determine what his/her beliefs really are and where he/she wants to be. It is a very personal examination of oneself. Fortunately, there are Muslims who do this (although not all of them do), whether they were born to Muslim parents or accepted Islam themselves.
We are not sheep! We must think.
For the individual who looks closely at his/herself and what is best, I think he/she can easily find that the logic for the mind and beauty for the heart that Islam provides is the correct way.
The most simple, most logical doctrine: Tawheed, the Islamic belief that GOD is One without any partner and that His attributes are unique to Him. There is no idea that is more beautiful.
The best way of life is to devote oneself completely to the Almighty GOD, and that is what Islam provides.
I hope everything works for you.
Peace
