I mean, I don't like boats & boating so I avoid questions in that section. I'm not going to be in that section and get mad talking about "stop telling me about boats", if that's what the section is for. You have people that stay in the religious section but get mad about people preaching to them. If you don't like it don't read it and stay out the section. Simple as that. It only makes sense.

I'm not saying people don't have the right to voice their opinions, hey its an open forum, but they are getting mad about Christians voicing their opinions in the religion section when they don't have to read our questions. Don't we have the same right?

Because for some reason they seem to like coming here to bash Christians and then turn around and say that we are the one's insulting them. No, it doesn't make alot of sense but it happens daily. Maybe they have really boring lives, who knows.

Sorry, it's not as simple as that. You made a very good analogy, but it doesn't apply. And here's why:
1. This section is for religion and spirituality. Religion implies, but doesn't have to include, theology. And the same goes for spirituality.
2. This is not a christian owned or sponsored site. If it were, it would be entitled "The Christian Room."
3. This is a forum for questions and answers, NOT for preaching.
So many people do get "mad" at those who are abusing this forum.

I don't know any boating enthusiasts who have started wars, killed people intentionally, tried to control others brains, tried to tell others what their morals should be, tried to tell others how they will or won't go to heaven ( whatever that is ), taken money from others promising that it goes to a good cause, or will get them to heaven, knock on their doors and give them propaganda - do you see where I am going with this? Religious nuts are as detrimental to the future of human beings as nuclear bombs, terrorists and W. For example, if you take offense at what others say about religion, why are you reading the questions and answers? Why dont you "stay out of the section - it is as simple as that".

So if I ask or answer questions on the "Diseases & Conditions" section, does that mean I have to love illness?
This is a Q&A forum, not a cheering section.
And no, "Looney," unless you're very young you'd know most skeptics and atheists have walked away from supersitition. They're certainly not looking for another version of it.
They've been there, done that, and it didn't work.

Its not exactly right, but it is human nature to make fun of things other people do that we disapprove of. That is why you find "geeks" in school who receive daily taunting from more popular kids, and we never really grow out of that. So in essence they are attacking those they feel are deluding themselves with the idea of God. But you'll often find it going the other way too, there have been plenty of Christians (all religions but it seems the Christian faiths have the most people who do this) who make fun of those who believe in a different God or no God at all. Its just the way humans are. I know this sounds kind of callous, but if you are going to make a stand for your religion you must be ready to take this kind of thing, because it will always be there.

Lol... I don't like boats & boating either. I think alot of people who do not have a religion are secretly curious and so they slam everyone on here, or they doubt their own beliefs (or lack thereof) and the only way to deal with the frustration is to tell everyone they are brain-washed, stupid, uneducated, the list goes on. Personally, I would hate myself if I treated people like that. I am very secure and confident in what I believe and don't need to tell everyone else they're stupid.

The same reason religious people ask questions in science and astronomy forums. We are struggling to understand one another. We are challenging each other's philosophy and doctrines. If your beliefs are not strong enough to withstand these types of challenges, are they worth having as beliefs? This goes for both sides of the argument, but I find that religious types are more sensitive to these kinds of challenges.
The minute that this kind of exchange stops, I think that will be the point where things start to fall apart.
As an atheist, I intend to keep challenging the beliefs of anything that people hold as true with no evidence. I invite people to challenge my absence of belief.
But please... lay off the Uranus jokes. They are all old and stale.

Because I like to talk about my religion with intelligent people that can give me answers. If I come here and ask a question about Athena, I want an answer about Athena! Not about Jesus or Allah or Willy Wonka! My questions are religious in nature, and that's why I ask them here. I don't come here to get preached to or harassed. If I wanted that, I'd go to a Christian church.
Here's a question. Why do Christians keep answering Pagan questions if they hate Paganism so much?
Blessed be.

What really makes sense, is that people in the boats & boating section don't preach to us and try to get us to join them and pay $$$ for the rest of our lives to support their stupid wars, in the name of God.
As long as religious fanatics are able to argue their illogical beliefs, then those of us who prefer common sense and science will always have the right to express opinions.
If you want to believe in fables and myths, that is your business, but some of us prefer not to have that stuff crammed down our throats by self-righteous fanatics, and we have to right to warn others, too.

well guess they opened this knew domain of yahoo answers, so that people like us will get to know each other. so that we will clear our doubts and get to know each others beleif, traditions and culture.
if they would have known that this place will cause so much bad mouthin, they would probably never hav thought about it again.
agree that they can skip the section, but isnt inquisitiveness a part of human nature.
see the section of religion and spirituality is like the apple from garden of eden. when adam and eve (pbuh) could not resist, how can we?

God haters are very insecure and they are like Dogs waiting for cars to drive by so they can chase them and bark at them but the Foolish Dogs don't realize they can get run over and kill themselves! "A Fool says in his heart that there is no God,they re corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is None that do Good." Ps. 14:1 God bless the haters!
