i recently met this guy in the navy and i want to know if he is married or been married....i don't want to be with someone taken....ya know what i mean jelly beans??/

first ask him... he may or may not shoot straight with you. if he really likes you and wants to pursue a relationship with you... he could lie lie lie lie lie to get what he wants from you. If you don't trust his answer or think he's bsing you... ask him some basic questions like what's your home town... where did you go to school... ask him about his family... etc through those answers any a little bit of hound dogging you'll get your answer... or you may just realize he's not worth the agrivation.

Speaking from plenty of experience...you can't believe what he says if you do "just ask him". That is a very hard thing to track because it is usually only registered at a local or state level. I have a friend who got married to someone in one state before he was even divorced from someone else in another state. There's almost no way to know for certain. Good luck!

you can try the online background check services, but they're ridiculously expensive
or you can try the public records office of the town/county/state where your guy comes from (or has been living). In most states, marriage licenses are public record. You may have to travel to get there, but its free (or for a very nominal fee - like $5)

Call them.
Ask for his home address and phone number outside the Navy.
If he resists, he's probably married.
Check directory assistance.
Email me his former City/State and name.

Go to the court house and look up his last name in the marriage licence files. It's public record, shouldn't cost you a thing.
As for online, I doubt that.
