they're saying that you can't have the two things that you want at the same time. You have to choose. Sometimes this is true, but it's not always that way. Like the car example & the boy/girl that is both attractive and smart. Did someone say this to you in a "choose me or choose the other guy, but you can't date us both" scenario?

It means that one can't be the smartest and most attractive at the same time.
The quote or phrase is not "There is no such thing as best of both worlds".
I think it's simply.... "The best of both worlds". Implying that for example not only is it a great car, but its also very affordable.
