There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol. Everyone knows that Jesus himself drank wine. BUT the Bible says "Do not get drunk on wine". There's nothing wrong with having a drink, but a Christian should examine their motives and intentions. Also, the Bible says that we should not cause our brothers to stumble. That means, if someone thinks that drinking is a sin, then FOR THAT PERSON it IS a sin. So even if a Christian thinks that drinking once in a while is OK, they shouldn't tempt their brother who believes drinking is a sin by serving or drinking alcohol in their presence. Also, we shouldn't try to change their mind by arguing the topic. Some people have a real problem with alcohol, and some cannot handle the responsiblity. But others can drink 1 or 2 drinks and stop without any problems. As with most things, this is a personal matter between the individual and God.
Hope that helps!

This is a personal choice, but like all personal choices there are consequences. The Bible does not prohibit alcohol consumption, but it does condemn drunkenness. The problem with drinking is that moist people cannot drink just one or two. Most people drink to get drunk, and that is a sin. Alcohol alters the thought process, and anything that interferes with sober thinking is a sin and it does have its consequences. It is best not to drink at all---Christian or non-Christian. It leads to erratic behavior and irresponsible activity, which is to say other sins.

I believe it depends what is in your Heart. True, Jesus turned water into wine at the Wedding in Cana. So the wine itself is not bad, or is the person who is drinking it. (In this case it was at a wedding), but If the person is using it in a way where Wine is used to cover up a hurt (for example), instead of trusting Jesus with that hurt, then it is wrong.
Remember that God knows the truth in your heart, and Knows the real reson one would drink Alcohol. So be true to HIM and know the true reason why you are drinking alcohol.

I agree with the first guy, it depends on the church and the faction of Christianity they belong to as to whether they are allowed to drink or not. However, based on the bible you are allowed to drink and even Jesus drank wine. But you cannot drink to the point of being drunk, you must always drink in moderation.

"Allowed" is not the right question. Jesus drank wine many times. Some churches discourage drinking alcohol because of the problems it has caused so many people and their families.

It seems strange to me that some think you can't, given that Jesus' recorded miracles in the bible include turning water into wine at a wedding when they ran out.
Also, he shared wine with his disciples at the last supper.
I'm not sure if the bible suggests one shouldn't drink anyhere. Proverbs certainly counsels against drunkeness, but drinking alcohol and becoming drunk are not the same thing.

Depends on the sect of Christianity.
Southern Baptists, Seventh-Day Adventists, etc. - mostly no.
Other mainline Protestant denominations (Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, etc.) & Catholics - yes.
Drinking in excess is, of course, usually not permitted. I'm not sure where the teetotaling denominations source their prohibition, but, as I don't think it's in the Bible, I think it's out of a fear that excess alcohol consumption contributes to many of the other vices and activities that are explicitly described as sins.

A Christian (saved believer) is "allowed" to do anything they want. However, if I did I would be miserable, not in fellowship with God, and would not be doing right. A TRUE Christian would not want to. (side note: the water that Jesus turned to wine, was not fermented. Basically grape juice, so using that excuse is a no go.)

I believe that you're not supposed to drink it to the point of getting drunk, but a beer here and there isn't a bad thing. It's mostly bad though because it can cause unchristian actions.
