Your not crazy. Alot of people do little things when emotional and stressed out.
My sister use to sit and pull her hair out strand by strand. She would look in a mirror and find each little grey hair and pull it out.
She got so bad that she was trying to do it while driving.
And the only time she did this is when something happened to really stress her out.
Talk to your doctor, tell him what is going on and he will probably put you on some kind of medication to help you deal with your emotions and deal with stress more easily.

Operation Ivy, based on the minimal information given, I would say that you had a generalized anxiety disorder. I don't know much about your situation, but if you only do it when you are emotionally upset, it is a coping mechanism to calm yourself.
If you draw blood, then it might fall into the realm of self harm.
Most likely though it is just anxiety, which might be able to be rectified with a mild drug like buspar, which reduces anxiety in people and has little to no side effect.
If you would like to tell me more about whats going on maybe I can give you a better idea. But I'm not a doctor (yet) lol. Give me 5 more years :-) Good luck.

Sounds much like you are having an unconscious manifestation. Suggesting something took place when you were very young. That emotion has been hidden in your mind's storehouse and when the emotion hits now, it brings out or triggers the emotion that was buried many years ago. Thus the unconscious reaction. Need to eliminate that trigger. There is a way.

I think that you need to go and see a psychologist, maybe a psychologist can help you, because those are the people who are just crazy enough to prove to you that you're not crazy.

A counselor can help you. You do need help but you are not crazy. I am a stress eater and am fat b/c of it...so it could be worse. Everyone has a vice....some of them are pretty bad. I wish mine was jogging or something, lol

Try placing your hands under your legs. Figure out what triggers it and don't let your hands ever get next to your face.

one of my friends used to do that.
she solved the problem by calling me or our other friend, _______, on the phone or pulling us aside and talking about what was upsetting her. if we weren't available, she'd write down what was bothering her on a piece of paper.
not only did that help her stop biting, it helped her resolve many issues!

try applying some bitter lotion to your hands...or try to say some songs in your mind or name your fingers the names of the person who you love very much...so when you tend to bit you remember them and you will stop that.
