I was walking home across a housing estate, it was just getting dark and I heard a woman shouting 'Help Help'. I ran to were she was on a small patch of grass and a youth aged around 20 had stopped on his bike and was violently trying to grab this ladys handbag off of her. I could see clearly that the woman was in in danger and she has blood on her face (He had punched her in th face before I had arrived). Without thinking I ran at him and pulldozed him to the ground (I didnt know at the time but he fractures his rist when he went over). I grabbed him and gave to the woman my mobile phone to call the police. I held him there for a few minutes until police arrived (Being called every name under the sun by him of course). When the police arrived he was arrested and put into a cop car. The police and lady thanked me repeatedly. The police got into the car...and then a few minutes later they got back out and told me that I was under arrest for assault as the man said he's pressing charges

What city and state was that?
I have made similar arrests for assaults on others and never been arrested myself. Here in Colorado, while it may open you up for civil action, there are laws that allow you to intervene on behalf of a third party, in the circumstances you describe above.

He can press charges because of his fractured wrist. You will probably get your case dismissed. Some laws need to be changed. I would get a lawyer and plead not guilty. Because he was injured the police have to take his complaint. And a lot of criminals that spend time in jails have a whole set of law books available to them while sitting in bigger jails. This mugger is smart enough to know the law. He will try to get compensation from you in a civil suit because his wrist was broken. Easy way for the worthless crook to get cash and he doesn't have to work for it.

That is due process of the law. Anyway, when you give your afffidavit and testimony, you can get the lady as a witness for the incident. I am sure the case against you would be dismissed, since you just did what a good and concerned citizen should do.

Don't worry, after a short time in jail and repeatdly being sodomized, the judge will dxrop the charges, so nothing will appear on your record.

Dont problem about it. all and distinctive have the right 2 take someone 2 court docket besides the undeniable fact that it doesnt advise that they are going to win. The case is generally thrown out fantastically if the female comes as your witness. lots of judges are woman & the male ones have sisters, better halves & moms too.

That's BS! I swear the government is slowly stripping away citizens rights and giving them to criminals. If the judge is smart he'll dismiss the case.
