They might be in a breeze blowing over a field, or entangled in a tornado.

They may travel a long distance, but they are most considerate and respectful of your feelings, because they always remember to call back to you and repeat what you've said, just to make sure they've got it right.

Hmmm...let's see.......
they are sound waves and reverberate off of canyon walls, tall buildings, empty rooms and the like. I would imagine that they just fade away. If sound waves didn't fade away the world would be a whole lot noisier than it is now.
