I'm sure we can all agree that picking a day to stop driving just won't work.........
With that said,Why not Try this?
If EVERYONE Stopped Buying gas from Exxon/Mobil(They're making the Most Money) for 1 Month I Guaruntee they will drop there Prices.
They would have to,then to be able to compete, other companies would follow suit.........
Instead of Blaming others(instead of Supply and Demand)We as Consumers need to accept some Responsibility on this Issue......
We as Consumers can set the Price by Boycotting Exxon/Mobil completely.
So What Say YOU?
Are any of you willing to Stop buying Gas from Exxon/Mobil for 1 Month?
I Stopped a few months ago.So have my Family(entire family)and friends too...........
And their telling their friends to stop.Word of Mouth can only go so far though. With all the People here,You would be surprised at the difference you can make.......
So you can continue complaining OR you can actually do something........................

See the problem is that's okay where people have choices on gas but I've traveled to cities where there are only Exxon/Mobil stations.....and you're right if consumers got together and did this it would work but that's not really gonna happen until gas reaches a price where the majority of the general public will not buy it...and even then it'd be a lil too late....

I don't know why so many people are so negative in the world. I'll try it, and I'll tell my friends to try it. I don't think it really matters where you buy gas from, so I don't know why so many people are shooting this idea down? I also would like to say though I think the gas prices are much to high 3.12 here, not as high as last years 3.26. But in some towns you can't take the bus, we don't even have one. So I will say yes, I will only go to the Cenex or BP. If mobile is the one making all the money, I'll short them the 50 bucks I spend a month on gas, and I understand everyone thinks if only a few people do it won't work. Well I think thats why it was posted on here, to get more than just the 100 or so people to do it that she already has doing it. It won't hurt to try. Thanks.

Exxon Mobile is not going to decrease their prices because of a boycott. First of all, automobile gasoline is only ONE way that this company makes profits. There are many other ventures. Also, why single out exxon mobile because they are the biggest? ALL of the oil companies are corrupt. Singling out one while giving profits to the others is not going to solve anything. Good idea in theory, but too simple and naive to actually accomplish anything.

This is nothing new. This email has been going around for years and no one ever does it. We are a very mobile society and we can't just sit at home because we don't have gas in our car. The oil companies are not going to lower their prices, epsecially during the summer, or whenever there are major holidays. It will never work. The only thing that will work is if the US is allowed to drill in 10 SMALL acres of forrest up in Alaska so we don't have to depend on foreign oil!!

Actually not buying gas from them does absoutly nothing. That won't make them lower there costs. Most costs are detemend by a source other than the gas station such as the state you live in and what not. They did something about this on CNN. It doesn't do anything. Having a group of people stop buying gas also isn't going to effect them. There are lots of people out there, a group of 100 or so isn't going to do anything.
Sorry

As amazing as this sounds, it's been proposed year after year, and never works. Unfortunately, not enough people participate... and the majority of the oil companies profits are NOT made at the gas station, but at the refineries and export.
Sorry to burst your bubble... but the only people who get hurt through a boycott are the station managers and employees ... neither of which have any control over the prices.

It will never work! Get a grip! Change your air filter regularly and keep your tires aired up at max psi for your vehicle. Go 60 mph instead of 70 mph. Maximize your miles per gallon and quit your complaining yourself. I don't mind paying 3.00/gal for diesel. You know why? I'll tell ya why, I have had stock in Exxon/Mobil for 15 years and I am rich. Hahahahahaha!

great idea, but easier said then done
i'm lucky 'cause i live in nyc and we dont need cars. but most of the country isn't so lucky.
although some gas companies maybe cheaper than others, all the companies are in cahoots and are involved in setting the price. also they know that there are Americans who will always pay for gas, no matter how much they're getting ripped off.

okay, so after a month when our tanks are empty and we HAVE to fill up then what, the sudden demand would raise prices again. I agree that their profits are disgusting, but they are only a small portion of the problem. How 'bout instead, we get those numbnuts in congress to lift the minimum price law and let the prices be set by the competitional aspects of the economy.
