No, its a destructive cult that is currently banned or restricted in most countries world wide. More and more people are finding out the truth about this 'religion' and it's numbers are dropping all the time, members are leaving, and new recruits are getting hard to come by. It is still a danger but thankfully not as big as it was decades ago.

http://www.clambake.org

And Theta why is your description FACT, not OPINION, that makes no sense, it sure looks like opinion to me.

I can also utterly disprove your 8 million figure as I have pointed out to you numerous times. There are in fact only around 100,000 members, maybe 500,000 max.
http://www.clambake.org/archive/COS_members.html

Also Hubbard never did extensive research did he... It has never been found, his family deny he did it, he never submitted it anywhere, he never described the experiments, the subjects of his experiments are nowhere to be found... So why doesn't the research exist? Nor can you duplicate any of his results in a proper scientific study. Why is this? Because Hubbard was a FRAUD, a conman, he made it all up, he stole from other sources to make some of it sound credible but basically he pulled it out of his **** (normally while on drugs).

http://www.clambake.org/archive/lrhbare/

These documents are the true FACTS about Ron's life...http://www.xs4all.nl/~kspaink/cos/LRH-bio/

Non-denominational? Really? That sounds great?
Except I found this nice little gem from Hubbard, in his own voice, "There is no Christ"
http://www.lermanet2.com/cos/nochrist.wav

And Duh? It's already been changed within the Church itself and you know this too... Comm Cycles in Auditing? 6 mth Sec Checks? How about the 2nd Dynamic is it sex as per Hubbard, or Creativity as per the migit man himself D. Miscaviage.
http://www.truthaboutscientology.com/alteringtech.htm

So already your statement is shown to be YOUR OPINION and not FACT. It's easy to call yourself source and denounce everyone else, someone else did this, L RON HUBBARD.

Watch I can do it too... This is fact, everyone else is just opinion...

Strange I only agree with your opinion, and none of your 'facts'?
"If you are concerned about the future in any way, creating a better one should be your primary concern...... in my opinion."

Yes I agree. I think you're a better source than Hubbard.

The only way Scientology could become a dominant religion
would be if it provides workable answers, and actual results that people can experience, which improve their lives and spiritual awareness and solve some of the main issues of our society and civilization.
Like insanity, war, criminality, general moral decline etc.

It won't matter whether people forget how it originated or not
as long as it is not altered or perverted or changed.
The technology of Scientology has been FULLY recorded and preserved by it's originator to ensure this doesn't happen, that it is not lost no matter what happens in the future.

By the way the actual "story" of Scientology goes like this:

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew,for example and still use and apply the priniciples of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from using it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. The developement of the technology is new.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable estate., when he died.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 8 million Scientologists in more that 150 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

By the way, this is not my opinion, this is FACT.
It's my OPINION that if we don't all start doing something about the state of our civilization it probably won't even be here in 2000 years.
If you are concerned about the future in any way, creating a better one should be your primary concern...... in my opinion.

Its possible, but I doubt it. The only ones who seem to go for it are just this of side of completely insane, mostly shown in the shenanigans of Tom Cruise. Truthfully on first look the idea seems pretty crazy anyway, and it never really looks less crazy as you go through it. It may be a right way to believe, but it is one of those really tough ones to understand (not too complicated but rather too crazy to think anyone could go for it). But I suppose Christianity was like taht when it first started, Islam too and those are both rather dominant religions now, so anything is possible for scientology.

" John Travolta stars in a recent release of "Battlefield Earth", a science fiction movie. John Travolta and many other Hollywood personalities are Scientologists. This particular movie may have had a special, deep religious significance for John. Scientologists believe that humans are inhabited by disembodied space aliens, who were abandoned on this planet billions of years ago. So.... the next time you hear the Hollywood crowd bashing Christianity and how unbelievable it is, think about Scientology and how really, really unbelievable it is."

" The Church of Scientology is a vicious and dangerous cult that masquerades as a religion. Its purpose is to make money. It practices a variety of mind-control techniques on people lured into its midst to gain control over their money and their lives. Its aim is to take from them every penny that they have and can ever borrow and to also enslave them to further its wicked ends.

It was started in the 1950s by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard in fulfilment to his declared aim to start a religion to make money. It is an offshoot to a method of psychotherapy he concocted from various sources which he named "Dianetics". Dianetics is a form of regression therapy. It was then further expanded to appear more like a religion in order to enjoy tax benefits. He called it "Scientology".

Scientology is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth. "

What do you think the response would be on the streets of Jerusalem 2000 years ago if you asked, "Do you think that this Christ and his 12 cult members could become a dominant religion?"

They'd probably laugh themselves silly.

(I don't believe Christ ever existed, personally, but I'm playing the "devils advocate!)

No.
Now that you can offer alternative healing without being a doctor or a religion, I suspect that the religion part of it will drop off and the courses be offered seperately and do very well. Its only ever been a big deal with the anti-Sci folks.

Only during the Great Tribulation, when the Church will be withdrawn from the earth. It will be destroyed, however, with the return of Christ, for he will not allow such blasphemy to exist during his 1000 year reign of the earth, and it shall not be reestablished afterward when there is a new heaven and a new earth.

Of course it can and will...The main difference between the longetivity of our religion and others is that we have all our actual lectures by L R H stored away in disaster proof accomodation. We will continue on....and considering that after around 55 years, we have 8 million members....we will continue to grow.
