Well, depends on what time you leave NYC, and how deep into Charlottesville, Virginia you are traveling. From Manhattan to Richmond, Virginia it takes about 5 to 6 hours at 90 miles per hour stopping only to fill up with Sunoco Gas. Heading to Charlottesville, should take about a good 8 hours.
Do not speed in Maryland, State Troopers Rule the Roads there..other than that, you should be A ok!
(Pack some snacks, & beverages) you will get hungry on the road! If you have to sleep, or rest, pull over on the side of the road or enter in at a rest stop..
be safe!

Varies on traffic. I would take 78 west to 81 south in PA. A nicer drive overall. Should take no more than 8 hours.

from 6 to 8 hours. pay tolls, gas up maybe twice, get your car checked out, it would be clever to bring a small cooler of sandwhiches and drinks or KFC and drinks. Water is great. virginia police likes to hid behind the trees some be careful with the speeding and have a safe trip. did you ever try busch gardens? it is nice in virginia.

Around 5 hours (normal traffic), if you take breaks just add up the time.
