DISCERNMENT: The act or process of exhibiting keen insight and good judgment.
You don't keep discernment, you use it. So you have to be diligent to discern the information that you are exposed to in your life. I'm sorry Christians, but even Christians have to use discernment along with the word of God to be able to know in their hearts what is right for them. Not everything a Christian may say may be true or of the Lord. I am currently attending five different bible studies and discernment has to be used to keep from losing my faith all together. ON a secular note even as kids we have to use discernment with our peers so we don't get into trouble. So whatever your beliefs are diligently discern between the good and the bad and then apply it to what you believe in

Discernment is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I can keep discernment of people, ideas, and situations when I listen to Him.
The core of what I believe it remains even though there may be circumstances involved with it that I discern as evil.

Discernment comes with a renewed mind. This comes by the word... studying Gods word.

Don't just take one verse and build a whole theology on that one verse but do like the bible says and read here a little, there a little, line upon line, pretext upon pretext. Got to study to see what the customs were and the way people thought to understand what they are saying at times. Sometimes you will see something that looks as if it is contradicting something else but if you really look at it and study it, you find it is just said in a different way that you were just not interpreting correctly. main thing is to pray before opening the bible and let the Holy Sprit be your guide.

By reading the Bible. Makes discerning things alot easier, since it plainly tells you how, with common sense. Read Proverbs.

Keep the Word always in front of you. Learn it carefully and examine what it means. Pray for wisdom from the Holy Spirit. And remember I Cor. 15, in which Paul reminds us that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is of first importance, all other things are subordinate to that one doctrine. Don't get caught up in the secondary things as you study. Keep Christ's finished work on the cross, His burial and resurrection always in front of you and the rest will fall into line.

Research, logic, intuition, and a healthy dose of skepticism. And more research. If you see an idea repeated from several different, independent sources, odds are it's got more validity than something that is propagandized by just one person or by one specific group.

1 Cor. 12:7-10 "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom, through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another the gift of faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another DISCERNING OF SPIRITS, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues."
All the doctrine and teaching we received from a Teachers or Pastor has a spirit in them. (Either the spirit of Truth or the spirit of Lies). Discernment is a vital importance in this area. As Apostle Paul said "Test the Spirit." To discern means to see or perceive.
Discerning of spirits is the God-given ability to detect the presence of, and the identity of spirits. It gives supernatural insight into the realm of “spirits.” It’s not just a discerning of devils or evil spirits, but a discerning of both good and evil spirits.
We must be careful that we do not confuse suspicion with perception or discernment. Suspicion is from the mind, not from the Spirit of God. We cannot be led by our “suspicions.” We must be led by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Take note: The discerning of spirits is not the "GIFT OF DISCERNMENT" because the word of God makes no mention of the gift of discernment; however, it does mention the GIFT OF DISCERNING SPIRITS (see verses quoted above). Discerning of spirits is not the gift of discerning the faults in other people. This gift discerns spirits, doctrine and teaching, not people.
Have you ever been around with those people who seems to have a calling for exposing people’s faults? Fault finding is not from God. Whenever we point a finger at someone, there are always three fingers pointing back to us.
Acts 16:16-19 is a good example, The Lord revealed to Paul and his companions, by the discerning of spirits, that the slave girl in their midst was possessed with a spirit of divination. Notice, that Paul did not speak to the woman, but he spoke directly to the spirit that had possessed her. He commanded the spirit of divination to come out of her, and that evil spirit obeyed his command. Why? Because Paul was anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit. He wasn’t just a hearer of the word; he was a doer of the word.
A spirit is a living personality, whether it is the Spirit of God, the human spirit (which is the spirit of man), or an evil spirit.
There are many voices speaking today. We must be able to discern which voice is the voice of the Holy Spirit. The enemy is very subtle in his tactics and wiles against Christians. He doesn’t come knocking on the door of our homes waiting to introduce himself when we open the door. “Hey, how ya doing? I’m the devil and I’ve come to destroy your life!” He doesn’t operate like that. He often comes as an angel of light. He uses people to fulfill his evil purposes. This is why we must spend quality time in the presence of the Lord, hearing His voice, knowing His voice and responding to His voice. We must allow the gifts of His Spirit to operate and function in us.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today! They didn’t pass away with the original apostles. God is still moving, still healing, still performing miracles and still bringing deliverance to thousands of people! Our God is alive and well. He wants to use us in His Kingdom. Let’s get back to the word of God and believe what is written within its awesome pages.
I believed that this small information you received would give you a tremendous advantage in your walk of faith. Keep on praying and do also pray for me.
God Bless you.
