hi
have you tried putting her in it ? there is this stufff called feliway ( go to feliway.com) it is for this sort of thing, you sray it around in the areas that she is not suposed to pee , also she might have a urinary track infection, and just has a problem getting there in time did you take her to a vet? this happens when they have one also!

You could try some of Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter. It has herbs in it that draw the cat to the box. I have used it to help one of my cats and, though I hate the litter (dusty and clumps like cement) I do use it. Apparently now the company is selling the herb mixture through veterinarians only and you can add that to any litter.

Some cats like two boxes -- one for urine and another for poop. Go figure, that's the way cats are. You might try adding an extra box.

Cats always know how to get our attention and inappropriate urination is a sure-fire way! I don't think a kitten would have a health issue here that being the most common cause of urinary problems and I can't say to NOT have the urine checked for infection that can lead to painful urination.

Is the kitten stressed by dogs in her environment? Are children maybe overhandling her or always chasing and trying to catch her? Those are other things you need to consider.

I am so sick and tired of people saying that you have to get rid of animals for the simplest things. This is clearly not a situation where you will need to get rid of your kitten and I am so happy that you are not inclined to do so. As soon as you see your kitten peeing, pick her up and take her to her litter box so she will know that she needs to pee there. I have also heard of a spray that you can buy where you spray the solution wherever your kitty pees and the smell will deter her from peeing there. I am guessing you can find this at a pet store. In addition, you may want to call your local pet store and/or vet and ask their advice on how to handle this situation. Whatever you do, please do not get rid of your kitty. As long as you have pets, these situations will arise. You just have to love your pet enough to be patient while working on solutions.

I know there is specialty litters out there that gaurentee that your cat will go in the litter box or your money back......its worth a try. Sorry I don't have a specific one to mention, but go to your local pet store and ask, usually its an all natural litter, like pine chips....
At worst it doesn't work, and you bring whats left in the bag back and get a refund.

Also some cats like to one thing (poop) in one litter box, and pee in another, have you tried getting a second box?

is she spayed? female cats will do this to let males know that they're there and they are in heat. it's like a male marking his territory, she willl actually spray. if she's squatting and peeing, then check with your vet and make sure she doesn't have any infections or anything. if she's ok, then when you see her do it, rub her nose in it and put her in the litter box. be consistant with her, but when you see her peeing in the box, tell her she's a good girl and praise her. also, sometimes cats will poop in the litter box but not pee in it if the cleanliness of it is not to their liking. make sure you scoop it out at least once a day and change the litter completely about once a week or so. hope this helps and good luck.
