The Producers, hands down. It was co-written by comedy genius Mel Brooks and is based on one of the most classic comedies of all time (with actor Gene Wilder.) I guarantee that the musical version leave you laughing. The lyrics themselves were written hysterically.

Also, many people I know who seen Hairspray were disappointed but the people I know who seen the Producers bragged about their good time.

I've been going to the theatre since a child and The Producers was the best musical I've ever seen.

Real writers, real music that one can hum without accidentally going into another tune... genuinely funny and politically incorrect in a subliminally and overtly hilarious way!

A good base to compare other Broadway experiences.

definetly the producers. Hairspray is o.k but the producers is true broadway in the best sense. Big numbers abstract plot lines...what more can you ask for. Also stay away from Mama Mia...plot sucks...a girl who wants her father to walk her down the aisle, but her mom can't remember who her father is?

But the best ...in my opinion is Avenue Q. The writing is topshelf. you just can't beat songs like "the internet is for porn", and live muppet on muppet action...i laughed for days.

I know alot about theatre I have been a performer for almost 15 years. Musical theatre is my specialty...trust me on this one.

I'd go with the Producers, but Rent beats both of them hands down.
