I am convinced that God requires servitude, not because He needs it but because it is the best mind set. Do you think the world would have the same problems if we truly served each other from the King to the Pauper, Unconditional servitude?

I am not talking about Communism, however have you ever read their original constitution? It would be a perfect society if run the way it was written, but it never woeked right because of a few hustlers. Like all governments.
I am not talking about serving evil because are you really serving evil or would it be called enabling?

Kindness and basic courtesy are becoming a lost art in this country - so anything that gets us back to that is a good thing.

God has given us a free will. He will never obligate anyone to serve one another but he will be very happy if we do. In the Old Testament, He clearlly stated in the Book of Isaiah that He no longer wants offerings and sacrifices, He wants mercy. The King was made to become a ruler and a ruler is a measure we give to define what is right, what is just and what is appropriate. Are the Kings we have at present doing what is expected of them to do or do they think that every word they say should be regarded as right because of fear for what he may decree against you?
Leaders of Nations are supposed to be installed by God whether they have obtained it by honest deeds or fraud. God knows there is a time when we have to get what we deserve. The present leaders we have are a concoction of honest and corrupt officials putting our nation and the world in disarray. Serving one another and starting from our own family to our neighbors may help solve the problems that our leaders neglected or forgotten to do. Helping without a set condition is like loving without expecting anything in return.

I think it depends on whom you serve. Yes, servitude is a good thing, but there will always be people in this world who will choose to serve evil. But, service/volunteerism does help people build compassion toward others and teaches people to not think about themselves first, which has many positive benefits. The high schools in my community require 30 or 40 hours of community service in order to graduate. I've seen it make a difference!

This is actually one of those ultimate truths of the universe that is, upon first contemplation, a seeming paradox.

"The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

Jesus, from the Gospel of Matthew

As to everyone serving each other here on Earth, that's pretty much a lost cause. The best we can do is apply this teaching to our own relationships, and especially to family and to our spouse.

I'm reminded of a free audio lesson by pastor Jon Courson, "The Secret of Submission", available here...

What a wonderful world that would be. I agree with you.

And to answer the previous answer, communism isn't service. Communism is enslavement. Ask an actual communist (that lived in a communist state).

I thought we already were a society that was obligated to serve one another - just ask my wife.

Yes, it is communism. But a happy society that voluntarily does that would be lovely.
