They are a religion that follows the bible and follow the scriptures as basis for their teachings. The reason they go door to door is because of the scripture at Matthew 28:19, 20 about making disciples. Their name they get from the scripture Isaiah 43:10,12. Where they get Jehovah from is multiple scriptures but one that comes to the top of mind is Psalms 83:18. If you have any questions about them feel free to ask one, any doubts-ask. They have no issues with answering questions. Its better than being called names or having the door slammed in their face or pretending not to be home. If you are not interested just say so. If you are let them know. Nice people no prejudice.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are a group of ministers and missionaries who perform evangelistic work among the people in all parts of the earth. We manifest our love for God and our fellow man by declaring God’s purposes to all the people of the whole world in the same manner as did Jesus Christ and his apostles.
Jehovah’s witnesses truly believe what the Bible says and try to live according to its principles. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, God’s revelation to mankind. We are convinced that the Bible is authentic, reliable and the only guide that leads to everlasting life. It is our textbook. We study it and use it until we know how to find the principle, the proverb or example that fits the need or the problem of the moment. To Jehovah’s witnesses the Bible is the Book of the Creator, in which God tells his creatures about creation, about Himself, about His rules of life—rules that are simple and practical.
Jehovah’s witnesses also believe that the end of this wicked system of things is very near, and so we are busily engaged in warning people of this fact. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”—Matt. 24:14.
We believe that, after the wicked ones are destroyed, under God’s heavenly rule people are going to live forever in perfect health here on this earth restored to paradise conditions. This is God’s promise, and Jehovah’s witnesses believe it.—Ps. 37:9-11, 29.
Jehovah has organized his Witnesses into a true worldwide brotherhood, one that can never be broken by divisive national, racial, or religious interests. While the Witnesses number into the millions and live in over 200 lands, they are bound together as one in an unbreakable bond. This worldwide brotherhood, unique in all history, is indeed a modern miracle—God’s doing.—Isaiah 43:10, 11, 21; Acts 10:34, 35; Galatians 3:28.

Hello Pixie,
JWs are a group of people who follow the doctrine of an organisation started by a man called Charles Taze Russell and then a man called Judge Rutherford. Unlike Christianity they think their organisation is the only way to God and that Jesus has no deity. Over the years they have often predicted happenings which have not come true and then used an excuse that their change of heart in these matters has been NEW LIGHT. So i suppose you could call them a cult in which searching people try hard to find peace but just get an excuse for truth.
They have also changed certain texts of the Bible to fit the doctrin and duped followers into thinking that they have the right translation. I think it would be wise to get as near to the original texts as possible and not follow a group of men who think they have the only hot line to God. God is for everyone innit including them. If we seek we will find i reckon

jehovah's witness's are people that follow the bible exactly. They treat everyone with love and unselfish affection. I can guarente that If you give one a chance you will see that for yourself. The preach as that is what the bible says to do. The knock on doors to say that all the violence in the news, all the hatred in mankind these day's, all the selfishness that was not there a few years ago. is all predicted in the bible!!! Next time they knock take the time to listen.....

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

They are people that think there are only a select few that Jehovah will take to heaven when the world ends. If any knock on my door I ask them how they can be sure that Jehovah will choose THEM? They can't normally find an answer for that!

A belief in Jehovah as the one true god. Those who ‘witness’ (simply those who believe) are assured of joining the ruling theocracy party just after Armageddon.
And Armageddon, the final battle, will happen soon. Well, at least within the next thousand years.

I see alot of people think of them as annoying people, but I respect them. I do not believe in who they are, however. Jehova's Witnesses are a group of religious people, who believe in good works for salvation, they don't believe in the Trinity, they believe Jesus is a lesser god, they don't believe in hell;death is just the grave. They also believe that everyone is a child of God. I have talked to many of them, and they don't seem to even believe that whole Bible. As it was written already, they come to your door step with a PAMPHLET, not the Bible. Why is this? They want you to know who THEY are, not who GOD is. You would want to read the Bible and I am sure you can stump them.
Hope this helped, if you need more information, you can contact me.

Don't get me going on this subject, my husband was brought up as one, he no longer is one, but still has a lot of the belief's he was brought up with, I cant get him to think differently, there is nothing he cant tell u about the bible, he can tell u what and where everything is in that little thick book. He would disagree with one of you who said they don't know who God is, oh they know who he is they don't try telling u who they are, they try telling u what they believe in so on and so forth. They are just a bunch of religious folk who dress well and go to their Kingdom Halls and worship Jehovah God who they strongly believe in.
