Just got grandpa's old manual ice cream maker... have seen the "ice cream salt" few places, and though the rocks tend to be larger than the sea salt "pebbles(?)" I use for my kitchen grinder, I wonder if the grains are too small? or will they work just as well? Amount vs. the ice needed?

Sure you can use rock sea salt in a manual ice cream maker. Heck, you can use table salt if you want to. Use the same amount of rock sea salt as you would ice cream salt, then add a little more if you don't think it's getting cold enough.

Yes, you could use that. I had a manual ice cream maker once and I used the salt for water softners... worked really well and it was cheaper than the small bags in a grocery store, but I had to buy a large bag of it at a time.

Yes. That what mine uses. I use the morton rock salt. Its just regular salt. You don't want to use something that's potentially toxic.

I've used table salt, it works fine. Any salt will work really. Ussually its 3-4" ice then salt. Ice and salt to cove canister, if it has a canister lid.
