Well Star wars is a bit "out" there, I would have to say that. Beating her before the wedding? Well that would be the best way NOT to get married to her so I would vote against it.
If you are really into the Star Wars thing, may I suggest you tone it down to be more feminine? Such as using stars for decorations at the reception, or light blue decorations. I am all for creativity, but in all reality, Star Wars is a bit extreme unless BOTH of you are really into it.
A wedding with a theme is also MUCH harder to pull off. And can be more expensive. As a woman I know your wedding date is one of the most important days in your life. If you want to marry her, let her plan the wedding, of course with your input, but dont be upset that she doesnt want to share in your interest for having that type of wedding.
You can plan this type of wedding if you truly want to, but there will be either one of two end results. Your bride to be may not wak down the aisle, or you will have to tone it down to her specifications.
Good luck in your planning- and hey- stay away from the beatings!

That is horrible that you would want to do that to her. Every girl dreams of a perfect wedding. You can not ruin her idea of it by having a star wars theme. Thats so mean to do to a girl. Why don't you have a star wars themed party after the wedding? The theme of any wedding should be you and her not some movie. You need to let her do what she wants and just get use to it!

Be clever!! You’ll never get the full theme, just as I could not get a Renaissance Theme or a Sci Fi theme.
Instead I had Dolphin place card holders (hitchhiker’s guide), bowls of petunias for centerpieces (hitchhiker’s guide again), my cake topper was called “dancing in the moon” or something, but if you asked any fan it was a total Stargate!
My hair was done in a complete 19th century European style. And my dress looked like a Royal Court dress.
I had the reception at an aquarium as well. Use a unique reception location as an advantage. Or time of year. A winter wedding can be reminiscent of Hoth. Use obscure references in common wedding items. Not everyone will get the joke, but you’ll know. Oh and when suggesting these things, fail to mention how much it reminds you of Star Wars. (Winter weddings are less expensive and I think it would be beautiful to have fresh snow as a backdrop in our pictures. . .) I sure as hell didn’t mention that the “moon” looked like a stargate!
Keep a secret. Have your groomsmen hide toy lightsabers at the reception hall and when you two walk in to the reception under the party’s extended arms, have the boys meet the girl’s flowers with the lightsabers! It’s funny and cute. You both win then and it can be the happiest day of your life!

I am all for themes. they make the wedding more personal. If she is not a Star Wars fan (I only saw it in the theater in the 70's!) maybe she would at least go along with "touches" of the movie. For example: Could you get a Star Wars tie or cumberbun? A princess Leia Luke Skywalker cake topper? Or the best yet. When they announce you guys for the forst time at the reception, play the theme from the movie and walk in with light sabers!!! I did not even like the movie and I would be willing to do this!!! Good luck!!

Beating her? How did you ever get a girl to agree to marry you? You should count your lucky stars that she even said yes. You also need to realize that most girls have been dreaming about thier wedding day since they were very young, and unless they are nerds then I can promise you that they never dreamed about a star wars theme wedding. Yes it is your wedding too, but this is VERY VERY special day for the girl in your life. If you really truly love her then maybe you can back off of this ridiculous idea and try to help her plan the wedding that she has always dreamed of. And I'm sorry...but i hope you were kidding about beating her, but if you werent you should seriously think again about marraige

You can't. You need to remember that even though it's you're getting married, too, the wedding really is her day. She's been thinking about it for many years (even if she tells you otherwise). Do not try and take her dream day away from her.
However, you can probably convince her to incorporate Star Wars elements. The bridal party can enter the reception to the theme music from Star Wars. The "Luke and Leia" theme would be nice for ceremony music.

Wow.. so many people can't take a joke. I say Ha! Beat the wench! I'm sure she has it coming in some way, most chicks do. As for the wedding though, hmm.. my guy wanted ours on Halloween, with all the trimmings. The things is, while he likes the fun, dressing up like a pirate, cuteness of Halloween, I like blood and dead things. After I beat him up a bit, we decided on a different day. Star Wars is awesome. Save it for the bachelor party, where she can't do a thing about it.

It all depends on how far you want to take the theme. I actually coordinated a wedding which was fairly traditional, but they incorporated things like their recessional music was the theme from the Throne Room at the end of Episode IV, and the tables at the reception were named after the characters instead of being Table 1, etc. You could even go with navy blue as your color....
But if you are talking about costumes and the kind of stuff you see at Comic-Con, I don't think you'll be able to sell her on it unless she's into it as much as you are.

OK first, that's the kind of wedding i want to have.
how to convince her? maby compromise, u could have the reception total star wars instead of the ceremony, or u might have to just do small things like for the music u could play some of the music from the movies, thins like that.
if u do a star wars wedding, are the pics going to be on the Internet? if they are, where will they be?

We had a friend whom wanted a star wars wedding, but his wife didn't, they compromised, the wedding was formal, normal, but the photos were star wars. So, when you look back at the pictures of the blessed event, the background was stars and space, and he was posing with a light saber, the bride had the princess leah buns on the sides of her head. It was beautiful.
