Dear Fire,

I don't think it's necessarily true that reading Dean Koontz books will send you to hell.

With that said, his books are not models of Truth and Christian lifestyle. I suppose it depends on why you're attracted to his books, and what imaginative thoughts you have in relation.

Well - if that is true, Hell is going to be very crowded since he is a best selling author. Anyone who says that has never read Dean Koontz. His books always have a spiritual thread woven throughout the storyline in which the good guy or the hero triumphs over evil. Isn't that what the Bible says should happen? By the way - have you read "Odd Thomas"? I just finished it last week. It is so funny and uplifting - though a typical Dean Koontz. If not - run out and get it. It is a good read.

That's odd... I love Dean Koontz, and though I've only read a few of his books, I didn't find anything wrong in them. I'm a Christian and an avid reader (two careers that often get tangled...).

So far, I think Life Expectancy is Dean Koontz's best book. Some people just don't like thriller/horror/fantasy/sci-fi novels or whatnot, and they use religion to make us all feel bad.

Next time someone tells you you're going to HELL, tell them ok, I'll meet you there, you bring the chocolate and I'll bring the marshmallows!!

This type of person has no clue.
I doubt you'll be the one to give them one.
If you decide to try, then tell them
they are eating and drinking judgement upon themselves. Read and quote something from the Bible about it. Be creative. Tell them that you refuse to judge them as they judge you because it's just wrong.

It is not our place to judge others.

As far as the GOING to hell, I think you're already there. This life is "hell."
That's my opinion.

I highly doubt that God will make you stay here extra long because you read a certain book or do a certain thing.

You might also want to suggest to these people that maybe they should pick up a book and read themselves. Reading is very good for you.

Maybe they're jealous.

They can rent books from the public library for free!!

Good luck my friend.
Peace, joy, and love.

)))))))))))))))))))))))Edit(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Like the other gal, I got a email from brets.

What can I say?

I have a right to my opinion, and respectfully you to yours.

This is an attempt to get other opinions, not jam yours down other people's throats.

If you believe in and read the Bible then you know that whensoever you judge someone else, it is in that same way that you cast judgement upon yourself.

No thank you, I don't want your opinion jammed down my throat.

The religious fanatical people probably tell you that you are going to hell. Don't listen to them because I had one person tell me that because I had a Darwin bumper sticker, (which was torn off of my car by that person b/c that person left a note on my window informing me). The person told me I needed to forget about evolution & get right with God. I believe in many theories & I am not against God either. I don't know who did that but many religous freaks can be annoying and very ignorant. I stay far away from people like that because they really get on my nerves. There is nothing wrong with Dean Koontz or Stephen King or Anne Rice or any other thriller writer out there. Does it not say in the Ten Commandants, "Thou shall not judge thy neighbor?" What are those other people doing, oh, that's right, judging you and are you not "thy" neighbor, according to the Bible you are. Forget those other losers and live your life how you want to as long as it is not in evil. You have nothing to worry about and live in the now.

Honestly, I have never read his books or even heard of him for that matter. (Don't live in the U.S) I don't know what he writes about, but if it contradicts with the Bible a person is only going agains the will of the Lord. The only reason a person will be going to hell, is if he doesn't repent from his sins, ask for forgiveness and turn to God. A person who reads the cleanest books, talks well, dresses hight class, may also be on his/her way to hell. It's the sad truth, but it doesn't end there! There is the good news! You can contact me if you would like. Have a great day and take care!

Dean Koontz is a good author and you certainly won't go to hell for reading any of his books, although if you have ever watched any of the TV versions you might be mistaken for believing you had gone to hell...

America is all about the freedom of press. Read what you want and remind those who argue that you should "go to hell" for being interested in "sick, twisted stuff" that they are being very close-minded and shallow. I got expelled in 7th grade for bringing my copy of "Catcher in the Rye" to school. Talk about biggotry. Then in 11th grade honors english class we were required to read it.

You may be ahead of your time, or more intellectually developed than those who judge for what you read. If you love his books, keep reading! Never close off your interests because of what someone else says. If anything, it shoud drive you to find more. I myself never have found Dean Koontz to be disturbing. I find them all to be a good read and wanting more by the last page.

And if you're going to hell fro reading Dean Koontz, save me a seat. I will be joining you. =)

i like all of his books, yet for a generic time Dean Koontz reader i could advise speed, that's shorter than a number of his different novels and n ordinary study. he's a huge author and intensely discriptive.

Actually I am a Catholic and I love Dean Koontz's books. I don't see a problem as you know they are stories. And yes two sons ages 11 and 13. Love my handful.
