Do some reading in the newbie forum first, so you can understand some of the abbreviations, the rules of the board etc.
There are many different forums on that site.
You might do some reading in the mortgage forum and also the credit forum. In the credit forum, you can learn how to work on your baddies before you apply for your mortgage. The mortgage forum will give you tips on applying, peoples experiences with different mortgage companies etc.
You will not be spammed for your business on that site. The owners of the site will not allow it and take great pains to keep spammers off of the site.
Also, one other tip, before you start mortgage shopping - OPT OUT. 1-888-5-OPTOUT (567-8688)
If you have baddies on your reports, your mortgage shopping will alert the collection agency's. In fact, the credit bureaus will sell the info to the collectors. The collection agency's may make it more difficult for you to become approved for a loan.
Opting out keeps the credit bureaus from selling your info, so the collection agency's will not know that you are mortgage shopping.

I can try and help you - i worked for equifax - but yes u can contact equifax or check the website and they will give u a # for a credit counselor and they will also answer questions for u. http://www.equifax.com
