There's a ton to do here if you know where to look. Some of the best shopping and restaurants are on NW 21st and 23rd. You could spend a day at Blue Lake (sight of all my childhood blistering sunburns :-). There is always a play or concert going on downtown (either at PSU, the Schnitz, OBT, Crystal Ballroom, Keller Auditorium, Roseland, etc.)

The Zoo is fun, and if you have kids, the Children's Museum is a must-see. In the summer there are farmers markets everywhere. The Multnomah County Library system puts on great classes and events for kids and adults. You can spend almost an entire weekend exploring Powell's bookstore. There's also usually some festival going on downtown by the waterfront.

Check the Friday Oregonian for the A&E section. That will have all the happenings around town for the coming week.
