I've never read that before. But I would put honey in the tea and maybe just a leeeeettle bit of sugar. It might be because of the caffeine in black tea mixed with sugar is a not-so-good thing.

There is nothing wrong with putting sugar in black tea (except that the sugar isn't all that great for you).
I personally don't sweeten tea anymore (I am now a purist, and like it that way) but if I still did I'd use agave nectar (Its an alternative to honey, which I'm allergic to) because the nectar and honey both dissolve better than table sugar.

I have always put sugar in all sorts of teas! black, green, fruity, sun,, I never heard anything about no black tea and sugar!
Read the arizona bottle tea they have black tea look at there ingredients... Suger is in it! so umm yeah!
If you like tea try adding a little milk and honey to normal tea! Taste great! and if you have a sore throat then add a dash of wiskey!

It's up to you. I'm a Brit, so of course I drink black tea. Some people I know mixed their tea with sugar, some don't. It's up to the person who's drinking the tea.
I don't happen to like sugar in my tea, but if I'm drinking black tea, there has to be a spot of milk in it. But that's all.
It's your tea. You make it the way you want to.

You can drink your tea however you like it! It's perfectly fine to put sugar in black tea. It's only the purists who think you shouldn't.

If you like sugar in tea, then you should put sugar in your tea. Why do you take advise from someone else about whether to put sugar in your tea?

Try stevia. It's a natural sweetener thats no calorie and an anti-oxidant. Health food stores sell it. The artificial sweetener people have been trying to keep it out of the us for decades, and it only made it disguised as a food supplement!
