Why is it, (though a nasty habit, not used reguarly) do I find that when I use chewing tabacco, I become more focused on things I need to do, and I don't procrastinate doing them? Do I have a problem that could be helped with medication that does not have the side effects connected with tobacco use, so I won't use it anymore?

I am a mental health nurse. Nicotine works on Dopamine in the brain which deals with pleasure and concentration. Nicotine stimulates this part of the brain to make you feel good and help to concentrate better. Wellbutrin has been proven to help quite smoking and still stimulate the part of the brain to replace the nicotine.

Well because nicotine is a stimulant. When tobacco is chewed, nicotine is absorbed and sent straight to the brain which causes you to feel a rush. You do have an addiction. Dipping is even more addictive than smoking because more nicotine is being absorbed into the bloodstream - so it will be really hard for you to quit.
There is a medication that is supposed to help with the cravings. The name Zyban. You can also try nicotine patches, gum - go to a Wal-greens and check out the stop smoking aides.
..but you have to really want to quit. It won't happen overnight.

One thing you need to consider is... meds have to eventually be discharged thru the liver.. Also, 1/4 of all patients admitted to the hospital are from a drug reaction.
