If there was a God...I said If, no even though you don't believe in one.... You still respond to this question. How should God reveal himself to mankind? Should he come down to Earth and tell them I'm God. Or should he reveal himself in nature, or give us some sign.. Just curious what you think...

To "the Jim Darwn":

What they were building was a rather large cast metal basin. If we reckon a cubit to be ~18 inches, consider it this way:

The metal basin's wall is about 8 inches thick. Now we have an inner diameter and an outer diameter.

The inner diameter would be about 9.55 cubits, enabling us to have a 30 cubit outer circumference.

In either case, cubits are a "rough measure," and you're probably very aware that they didn't have scientific measuring equipment with them in the dessert. If you dont't accept my earlier explanation, then think of it as an approximation.

Now go and spread the gospel!

Well, if God answers prayer, then he should heal the occasional amputee. The prayers that are "answered" are only the prayers which can be chalked up to coincidence, and no more often than with coincidence.

Also, you would think that God would step in here and there to prevent the slaughter of innocents (infants and children) in war, in everyday life, and in natural disasters.

If Satan cannot create, then did God create AIDs? Did God create other nasty viruses?

You'll find that every Christian has a differing answer to such questions. They even have differing answers to simple and fundamental questions like - How can I go to heaven? Is there an unpardonable sin? Are there sins that are worse than others?

Actually, pretty much every answer you see here asked of Christians will lead to many many different answers.

If God were there, you would think that he would at least make Himself understood to those that follow him... especially when it's their guidance (since he can't be bothered to do the guiding Himself) that the rest of us rely on to determine what we believe in regards to Christianity. And this applies to every other religion I've ever come across.

If God existed, and he gave us a sign, it should be unambiguous enough to show it came from him. I mean, the alleged perfection of nature, and that kind of "signs" are not signs. Those can be accounted for in various ways. So, he should manifest himself in a way that even the sceptical could know it is him.

But besides, he should prove to us that we are going to hell if we don't believe in him, or if we sin (and God should convince me that such things as sex before marriage, for instance IS a sin anyway, and we're doomed for that). Otherwise, I don't have any reason to buy the religious threat of a hell. To begin with, because that doesn't exist, for all we KNOW (I didn't say BELIEVE). But also, because I'm not religious, but I don't do really bad things like murder, robbery, and the like.

He should do the same thing he supposedly did to the "prophets" in the bible.

If he was so willing to talk to Noah and such, why won't he talk to us? Why do we have to have faith? The folks telling us to have faith didn't have any. They had flaming hands writing on walls, and lightning coming down from "heaven" and so forth.

Did God just decide to start playing hide and seek since then?

Surely you can see how silly and obvious this ancient con game is, right? Oh, who am I kidding. Logic goes right through the ears of theists...

Edit - Ownlee me, I do adore those hilarious "miracle" stories on CBN. That is about the stupidest pile of **** I've ever read, and I was dying laughing the first time I saw it. So I guess God just didn't give a damn about all the people that he killed with that tsunami, who were praying just as hard, right? He just decided to save what... 8 of them? Come on, grow a brain... I beg of you!

I have a plan and a dam good one...

He should give everyone the same dream at the same time, something unmistakable.

Seems like an easy thing to do for a god of his caliber.

You think that would change the world in a heartbeat?

Still waitng for that...

Well, as Jesus told Thomas after his resurrection; "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:26-29). God shouldn't have to appear for people to believe in him. He reveals himself everyday through his miracles. Like what happened with the Tsunami. When the guy in the orphanage read a verse of scripture and the water stopped.

It was at that moment, faced with certain death, that a Scripture verse from the Bible, from the book of Isaiah, popped into his mind.

He said, "And I just stretched my hands…." He showed us how he put his arms toward the wave. "And I said, 'Based on the strength of the Scriptures, where it says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against it." Sanders said he was speaking to the wave when he said, "I command you [wave] in the name of Jesus, stop!'"

Sanders said, what happened next was a miracle. The wall of water that was seconds away from engulfing them began to slow down.

He explained, "It became sluggish, [yet] it was straining against what I thought at the moment was some invisible wall."

There are a thousand things he could do if he wanted to. Turn the sky green around the world and say hi. Appear to each person individually. Come down and make cancer disappear from everyone forever. Is your point that we wouldn't believe it if he did some real miracle? If he wanted to, he could come up with something that we would believe.

Why not just appear to us openly? Why should an all-powerful being play mind games with us? If he's there, tell us straight out - none of this "you gotta believe even if the facts make it look impossible" garbage. Why would he be afraid to just be there openly instead of hiding away in some imaginary heaven? He could do lots of good - stop religious wars, for one thing - if he'd just stop being so coy and hard-to-get.
