I think some of you live in your own little world, and have never been exposed to some of the horrible evil that can and does happen every day in public schools. No, I am not an extremist, but there is more wrong with the public schools system than is right.

Exposing your children to this daily onslaught of what government has decided is education, truth and the american way is just scary. I think it is time that people wake up and smell the manure they are feeding our children, starting with evolution, which by the way is a theory, not a fact, yet is premised as fact throughout the educational system. In California, a school decided it was time to give a survey to the students, asking them about their sexual experiences, what they knew about sex and how is sex viewed in their homes. The children were kindergarten thru 4th grade. When a parent became upset with questions like-have you ever touched yourself and become excited? the court told them that, when their child walked thru the doors of the school they became the propert and responsibility of the state and that they in no way had to inform the parents before teaching or handing out material the parent may object to, it was the states responsibility to inform these students as they saw fit. Yet, a child wearing a cross to school around their neck will be sent home, a female child with the belief that she must cover her face with something is allowed to do so, yet a child believing in Christ and displaying a piece of jewelry is discriminated against. Come on, these things are out of control, so if you want to sell crazy-head to the public school-they are buying it there. By the way I have a good friend with children in public school, and her daughter has been exposed to two lesbian girls making out in the hallway for over a year, yet she gets detention for kissing her boyfriend. This is more than your every day education our children are exposed to, it is hypocrisy and bias, stress and lies. Isn't the media doing a good enough job??

I am not sure what you are asking. It is difficult on a child's mind to hear insults about their religious beliefs. I do not think that teachers have the right to try and convince any child other than their own that God does not exist. I do not like the public school system but that is mostly do to what they teach, how they teach, and the lack of discipline in students. Public school has become a very violent and dangerous place. And if you are wondering I am a Catholic and I home school.

Too bad you've received such shallow and defensive replies so far. So very many people are deceived and confused. It's a shame. Yes is the answere you're looking for. Public School is synonomous with Child Abuse. Why any rational thinking adult married couple would send their precious little ones into such a dastardly and deceptive environment escapes me. But, hey, PS is free and serves as a day care center for most working parents. After all, parents work is far more important than their childs welfare. If you have any opportunity to get out of public school then take it. RUN! Christians (actually - everyone does) have a myriad of positive choices for schooling - from K-12 and on in to college. Seek and you shall find.

I am currently going to school in order to become a middle school teacher. I have a cousin who is homeschooling her child. I have two kids who are in public school. What I have noticed is that my children are just as smart as her children although her children seem to go over material a year ahead of mine. In other words her little boy who is the same age as mine is a grade ahead in the material. However, both of her children are not socially adaptable. They do have difficulties in social situation. Umm.......ok they may go through school faster, but what good is that going to do them if they can not function with people. Being successful in life will require you to be able to deal with other people. What a waste. The public school system is attempting to be able to "Leave no child behind", but the main thing is that education starts at home with PARENT INVOLVEMENT!

A child's mind is much happier when filled with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads. I found it difficult when I needed to get my head around very complex subjects like '2+2=4', 'our DNA shows distinct similarities with other animals' and 'there is not enough water in the world to flood the whole thing to the highest mountaintops'...

In all honesty, I went to a small town school here in TN. God was taught and teachers did not teach of evolution. But when I moved away and went to college in Dayton, Ohio things were different. And it was hard for me to sit there with some "know-it-all" professor shoving evolution and other God-less things down my throat day in and day out. You just have to learn to deal once you get to that, really. Those who vote to take God out and shove everything else in have far outnumbered us. But I do know that it made my faith and conviction much stronger. I loved getting to teach or even on occassion debate, or to write a paper with Biblical referrences in it. So don't fret. If you feel it's too difficult for you [or your children] take them out, send them to a Christian school if possible, or homeschool. Best wishes!

wow.... talk about fanatic... public schools served me and my entire family and almost every single one of my friends just fine... And now almost all of us are well-adjusted working adults. In fact, my friend (who is currently a bio-engineer working to conserve species in the rainforest) Sean's former Catholic school drove him so mad that by the time he transferred to public school in 9th grade he became a buddhist....

Public school education isn't bad for Christians. However the school environment nowadays is. A true Christian is careful about who he or she associates themselves with in school.

No, not really. I had no problems with it - I was too busy learning things like reading, writing, math and science to worry about whether or not I was learning about religion.
