It is very involved and even if it is for personal use there is a lot of red tape to go through. If you are travelling into Canada and bringing some wine along with you, it will probably be a little easier but if you're shipping it using FedEx or UPS, it's a lot of headaches. I heard once that UPS refuses to ship alcohol of any sort between Canada and the US. Don't know if it's true but I'd check with them to see what their policy is on it before trying to send it.

Send money! It is so much easier! They can go buy anything there we can get in the states! Their sin tax is about double the states!

If it is just for personal consumption all that will happen is it will go through customs

Pay sales tax. I know when we go over and we buy liquor we have to stop and pay sales tax.
