what are the good places to go for bars, clubbing, shopping, sight seeing, people watching, ethnic restaurants, gyms, bachelor apartments, that kind of stuff?

georgetown, lots of nice chicks running around here, FIGURE OUT THE FRIGGIN SUBWAY SYSTEM, great tool to use but a pain in the a*ss to figure out sometimes, DO NOT walk around alone after midnight unless you want to get stabbed or shot. the other stuff you'll figure out walking around here.

DC is a dangerous city that shuts down after 6pm except for the gang violence. The restaurants there are generally terrible compared to any other city I've been to (the Chinatown in DC is very lame but there are a couple of good restaurants there). The only good thing about DC is the Smithsonian.

georgetown, adams morgan are popular places. rosslyn/arlington is a young place with lots of bars that is 5-10 min away from DC. clubs are not as good as NYC or miami - but if its all you have ever known they are decent.

when i first moved here i felt like such nerd trying to figure the subway systems out lol. good luck.
go see the monuments and museums [the spy museum is cool], and just walk around! you'll find lots to do. it's a big big city with lots of people.
