Does he fancy me?

Question

He sometimes tells me that I'm great, and that he enjoys talking to me. We get on very well. We laugh a lot together, and have various in-jokes. We tend to think in the same way, and often say things the other was about to say. We're friends, but I can't tell if he likes me as more than a friend. He's a few years older than me, and he says he's shy and he doesn't meet many women in his normal life. I once told him that no one ever likes me as more than a friend and he said 'I'm sure there are those who care deeply but don't express it'. How much should I read into that? He's the sort of person who everyone gets on well with, and he has lots of friends, but I think he talks to me more than a lot of those, and we have more deep and meaningful conversations! I don't live near him, so I don't see him in person very often, but we often chat on MSN messenger. Short of asking him (which I don't have the confidence to do), how can I tell what he thinks of me?

If you get on as well as you seem to with this person then the confidence you need to ask him how he feels shouldn't be an issue, sometimes it takes boldness to get what you want. it sounds to me that yes, he does fancy you but you aint gonna know unless you bite the bullet. having said that, if you don't live near each other is a long distance relationship really the best thing for you. They can be very very hard to maintain and take total commitment from both parties so be sure that both of you would be willing to put the work in.

well he probably does but its an online thing.still online can happen with communications. i do think that line he told u bout they want to but cant express it was a sign.u guys seem perfect 4 each other and to bad he dont live there.so maybe u should keep him as a friend.u said u see him so maybe it can work.still u both are just shy and that hard to make something happen if dont make a move.i think he likes u but ur online thing and he dont know how u feel.so u need to let him know how u feel.that putting u in the open but if u think that he does like u go 4 it.trust ur heart.good luck

Take the bull by the horns and ask him! You'll be waiting a very long time to find out otherwise! Just type it on MSN next time and hopefully you'll find out ...

When you do see him in person, does his body language suggest anything - does he stand close, lick his lips, touch your arm etc?

You can see what he does when he is put in a dilemma ...

eg. He's planning on doing something (hang with some other friends or go do something that is moderately important to him) and you say "Oh - but I was going to ask you to come with me and do ... together."

See how he reacts. If he chooses you, he is more serious about you than whatever he was previously going to do ... at least for the moment.
