OK heres the deal with horse racing:

horse racing is impossible for normal punters to win in the long run because the odds are literally stack against you from the start, thats why the bookies only pay out 75% of what they take on any race.

but even more stacked against you are the trainers, forget the owners and the jockeys the trainers are the only ones that decide if the horse is even going to try in the race that it is entered for and most horses in a field of runners are not even seriously trying to win so if you backed them your on a loser even before the race starts.
added to that is the amount of false information that is put out by tipsters etc

this is the way it works.... if you think of the money backed in a certain race being all put into one big pot the more trainers can give false information (to tipsters etc.) the bigger the pot gets and the bigger the pot gets the more money that can be taken out by the trainers and his/her CLOSE colleagues.

if ever you hear of a tip in a race dont go for the tip you received but look closely at the favourite in the race.

although bookmakers have a bad name the trainers are the ones you need to watch they will smile at the television camera saying their horse "has a good chance in this race" knowing full well that their bet is on another horse in the race.

I do realise that the people behind the scenes are privy to information the average punter does not know but it still stands that if the trainer says he does not want the horse to win and the horse wins that jockey will NEVER get another ride from that trainer and I will bet most other trainers will drop him once they know he didn't follow instuctions.

Sorry, but you have missed the biggest part of the equation! The back-lot employees... hot-walkers, grooms, exercise riders, farriers, vets, assistant trainers, holding barn staff, feed & tack suppliers, security & whoever else is allowed to come into contact with the horses on the backlot of ANY racetrack can & DO overshadow the wants & wishes of even the most powerful trainer & they are powerless to control the outcome from a "well planned personal attack" when it comes to their horses. The horse racing industry is home to many terrorists who get paid well to destroy a good horse & trainer in ways that you would just not believe. After 5 years as a licensed groom in California, I was blacklisted because I saw too much & I spoke out against man & on the side of the animal. Since man controls over animals, I didn't stand a chance & neither do other people unless they are part of the "inner circle" of people who don't make waves! Remember that money & vengence come before honor & compassion in this industry! There are some good honest people in the industry, but they usually must work much harder than the average "Joe" because they are aware of the back-lot antics! Oh, & let's not forget how important the gate staff are to the outcome of a race, because many injuries start at the starting line!

I really don't understand your question here... but as a 35 yr handicaper I will share with you "some inside poop" sure your right... there is a large human presence in horse racing.. The best time I ever had a the windows was when I was a race horse owner.. Sure.. listen to little tid bits here and there.. So.. When a person "plays" the ponies,, they should take into consideration just that!! Early money.. Late money.. Hidden money.. you know exotic bets.. shown payoffs before the race. The "human factor" is here to stay.. just as well.. jump on the band wagon
