Most modern concepts of hell originate in Dante's Inferno. It's fiction.

God has to destroy sin. The root and branch will be burned on the earth. The fire will purefy the earth. The continous burning hell that most religions describe is incorrect. God promised eternal life for the righteous. If the wicked are burning in hell, they are still living, even though it is a punishing. Notice the Bible calls it a punishment (end) not a punishing(on going.). The fire will totally anniliate the wicked. The wicked will become no more, ashes. The earth newly created.

Gnashing of teeth. the human body cannot withstand fire. The wicked will not be able to rub the fire off. From head to toe the fire will burn. Some people will scream, gnash teeth, cringe up what ever they think would relieve the pain of the fire.

This is just a quick description of Hell, having only a handful of specific verses. There are many others that are equally specific, and yet others that detail Hell via a parable. (But they all cover at least one of these topics)... but I honestly didn't want to spend the next week finding all of the applicable verses. I do hope this suffices for you.

1.) Desirability to not go there:
Matthew 5:29 - plucking out your eye to stop you from sinning is better than going into hell whole (and see next verse, regarding a likewise thought on your hand, and Mark 9:45 on the foot)
Matthew 18:6 - it'd be better to have a millstone hung around your neck, and die by drowning, than to offend (sin against, cause to sin) a child
Matthew 10:28 - don't fear someone who can merely take your life, but rather, fear the One who can take both your life and soul and place them into Hell

2.) Fire:
Mark 9:43 - it shall never be quenched [repeated in the next several verses for emphasis]
Matthew 13:42 - likened unto a furnace
Revelation 14:10 - tormented by fire and brimstone (a stone that burns in a napalm-like manner... long, slow, hot, and smells horrible)
Matthew 19:40 - akin to tares (weeds/thorns) being gathered and burned in a fire
Matthew 25:41 - everlasting fire

3.) Torments:
Luke 16:23 - description of the rich man in torment (following verses mention his desire for just a taste of water to cool his tongue, and his desire to tell his family to change their ways because of how bad Hell is)
2 Peter 2:4 - bearing chains of darkness
Matthew 13:42 - gnashing of teeth (normally a physical sign of pain and anguish, we call it "grinding your teeth together")
Revelation 14:11 - smoke of their torments rises forever; no sign of rest day or night

4.) Sadness:
Matthew 13:42 - weeping
2 Samuel 22:6 - having sorrows
Psalm 116:3 - the pains of hell are sorrow and trouble

5.) Worms:
Mark 9:44 - where the worm (maggot) does not die [repeated in the next several verses for emphasis]

6.) People within it:
Psalm 9:16-17 - the wicked, because of the works of their own hands
Revelation 21:8 - the fearful (cowards), the unbelieving, the abominable (described, throughout the Bible, as those who seek non-heterosexual non-monogamous relations outside of their human spouse), murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars
Revelation 2:21-22 - those who did not repent (realize the severity of their sins, and change their ways) of their sins, even despite having been given time to do so.

7.) Physical description:
Revelation 21:8 - as a lake burning with brimstone and fire
Matthew 25:30 - the "outer darkness" (considering that "God is light" [1 John 1:5], the outer darkness can be likened to out of God's presence, where even God's light doesn't shine)

Oh, and this is not my description of Hell. This is God's description of Hell.

Hell, is a place outside of the Wall of Heaven.

It is a dry place, it is not punishment, it is not judgment!

If you did not believe in Christ and found yourself outside of heaven and KNEW at this time everything you believed was wrong, and it was your fault!
would you Nash your teeth? pound your head? strike your fist?
