Hi,

No more contagious than he has been. If your caring for him because he can no longer do things for himself, (changing soiled bedding, washing soiled cloths,) Use precautions, (wear gloves whenever you are going to come into contact with bodily fluids, Use bleach and water (mixed) in a spray bottle to clean any area bodily fluids come into contact with. I find it rather hard to believe you have a family member dying of AIDS and you don't know the answer to this question. I'm sure your family has had the opportunity to receive education in this matter. Meantime you catch it from a dying AIDS patient the same ways you do one that is well but has AIDS.

Little to none. As far as I know, you don't catch it by being in the same room or breathing the same air as someone who has it.

On the other hand, if you have intercourse with this person, chances are very good.

AIDS is contracted through certain bodily fluids like blood, semen, or vaginal secretions. Unless you're getting blood transfusions or having sex with this person, I wouldn't worry about it.

Unless you get his/her bodily fluids in you then you will be fine. That means don't french kiss. have sex, or take a blood transfusion
OTherwise, hold this person and help them to die with compassion.
