Canned peas, I just empty the can with the liquid into a microwave safe bowl or dish & zap 'em. Just a minute or two at a time until you see how long they need.
Frozen peas I pour some into the bowl & add a little water or butter & zap 'em. Just a couple minutes will do.
Fresh peas I cover with water, spices & zap until done. Keep checking to see how long you need.

If they're canned, just put them in their own juices...
If their fresh peas, yes, add some water to the bottom of a microwavable bowl...just keep checking them after about 2 minutes if your concerned with the watts of the microwave.

You can drain them and, if they were canned, you can rinse them. Put them in a microwave safe bowl and nuke for, say, 30 seconds... stir and test for temperature... then nuke for another 30 seconds... stir and test again and repeat until they are done to your taste.
You can cook just about anything in a microwave oven if you cook it in short bursts and stir it between them.

don't microwave peas! you will zap any raw energy the natural food has left, leaving the poor little peas virtually nutritionless!
