If it is working for you, then why change it? If you get off it, you may go back to experiencing whatever it was for you to start taking it in the first place. If it's not broke, don't fix it!!

Don't quit Prozac. That can be very dangerous. If you think you're doing better and don't need it anymore, talk to your doctor about reducing the dosage slowly. If you notice the symptoms coming back, tell your doctor right away. If not, your doctor can continue to reduce the dosage and "wean you off" Prozac as long as everything goes well.

Have you dealt with the underlying problem, which led you to the prozac in the first place? Drugs are only a temporary solution, dear.

Depression in most cases is an imbalance of your internal chemistry. Only a doctor giving you a blood test can determine if your chemistry ever corrected itself... or you can be really strong, not let the little crap in life bother you, realize there ARE some upsetting things in society, humans are stupid/ignorant/ self centered and learn how to deal with it all... like the majority of Americans do!

I would say when your life is going well and you feel you can deal with the stresses in your life at the moment. Make sure you have some moral support though to help you deal with whatever comes at you when you do quit.

Only your doctor should make that decision. YOu should tell him how you're doing. If it's working, I wouldn't want off of it.
