scary or freaky? Not the idea of Heaven or Hell but the idea of forever? How do you know that you always want to exist?

i don't perceive eternity as a never ending boring same existence .. i feel it is an ever changing cycle from one level to the next
from one spirit realm to the next and with each you are developing and changing
until one day becoming part of the ultimate energy ( god if you wish ) and from there new spirit/soul are born and we would become part of that recycling
not so boring when you think of it like that i don't think

When I was a child, I was scared more by the thought of living forever than by the tales of Heaven and Hell that are so childish that I could hardly accept them even at age seven. People do fear the infinite and try to put bounds on it...especially in the West. Some Asians can accept it better. My lover is from Japan, and I've had others from Japan, China and other Asian nations. I studied Asian culture before I met any Asians, and I've learned much from Asian lovers and friends, so I no longer fear the infinite...but I wouldn't want to be in either of the two Hells my Christian relatives discuss for a few seconds, let alone forever. Tom Sawyer told his Aunt Polly that he didn't want to sit on a cloud playing a harp forever. I don't either. Ceasing to exist is far better than the boring Heaven where all fun is wrong. I'm glad we do cease to exist, rather than that nonsense being true. Moslems may have 72 houris in their heaven. That is much better than the bleak paradise of Christian puritans, but both are untrue.

The idea of eternity is not strange at all considering how the universe does appear to be eternal. Whether you want to live forever, however, you make a good point. In our current state as human beings constantly trying to survive, an eternity of that does not look too appealing. But, a spiritual existence is bound to be a lot easier.

If you have lots of fun on earth, you may want to live on earth forever. But the fact is that since we are troubled by many things everyday (pay the bills, stressful work, relationship problem, etc) we like to move on; hopefully to a better place.

Heaven gives you the always (eternity) peacful and happy life; so why not forever?

Eternity in Heaven is a great thing... in Hell it's terrible.

It can be disturbing if you give it too much thought. It's hard to comprehend eternity since we look at everything within a limited time frame.

With eternity time is no longer a factor

I believe in reincarnation until we learn the lessons that we are supposed to learn. I also believe in the Summerlands and in an Underworld that isn't "Hell" at all, but a temporary stop-off point before we go on to our next life or the Summerlands.

yes eternity is & was before the world was created & will be after the world will end , for God ceated the world & he is eternal.

yes living in eternity might seem very difficult for those who think they will not end up living in heaven.
Just think of living 1000 years, one thousand years.

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

5:8 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

5:11 And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died

5:23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him.

enoch lives in eternity becuase he never saw death than elijah never saw death but Jesus & moses saw death but yet they live eternity.

these are those men who lived for God. just understand this simple logic if you did not undersatnd all the above.

if you people today live for few years 1year, 30 year, 50 year, 100 years or more. Just comapre the percentage of life lived as compared to eternity. or let me put it this way how much percentage would you think you will live as compared to eternity which is enfinity.

well the answer is you cannot even put it on calculator.

so if these few years that are given to by God , You do not accept him and give him all of your life than how will you live in eternity.

read this if you want to go to heaven.

Jesus' answer and not mine.

mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment.
12:31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

if you love God with all your might, mind, heart & soul than surely you will love to live in heaven. please read what is heaven?

heaven
21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.
21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

In your current state of flesh and bones, you will not exist, in a matter of time. After that, your legacy on earth will live on if you built a good one. As far as after life, God only knows - have faith in something.
