I have seen auras while in very deep meditation. I've never tried to, but sometimes it happens. The first time it happened it scared me so much I jumped up. Kind of. while I was studing nursing we were shown how someone who has lost a limb will sometimes feel the sensation that they have an itch on the missing part. What was proven that even tho a nerve has been cut it still sends out a signal from the cut end to the part that is no longer there. The nerve doesnt realize that it has been cut and nothing is recieving the signal it is sending. ANd then our bodies also produce chemicals which are released around us along with our body heat. Just like how the sky will become red and orange when the sun goes down from the reflection of the sun on the chemicales in the sky and the light show that you can see in alaska. I do not know if it can be proved using some equipment. But when you feel a sense of danger when walking alone on a lonely road in a dark night, and intutively choose the safe way home, I think it is your capability to sense the negative aura.
In the same way, whenever you feel comfortable with a stranger, it is your capability to sense the positive or friendly aura.
So I would define aura as a bio-data of a person which everyone carries with them all the time. You can know all about the person that matters to you, if you are sensitive enough.

The phenomena known as auras (aka Kirlian Photography) are well documented, and quite readily reproducible. They, unfortunately for New Agers of all stripes, have a completely rational explanation.

Essentially, they are the result of running electricity through the skin, and exciting the moisture on the skin. Mostly, these days at hippy festivals they just add the aura in using a computer - why bother with fancy metal plates and electricity if you can just use photochop?
