I think you need to tell him that that was a serious question and you deserve a serious answer. Make him explain it.

I think he loves you. He sounds like a very level headed and honest man and he knows what it is to love someone or has at least thought it through, which is more than most men.

I do not trust people who come across as all knowing. It was a philosopher who said a wise man who knows what he does not know. No-one really knows what love is. No-one really knows if they love a person until they commit and go through the process of loving and even then things change and people change.

Some Romoes say 'I love you just the way you are' - yes fine for now, but what about next week or next year, will he love you the way you will be then. I do not think love is enough because it can often be misguided. You also need someone who has enough common sense to know that love is not about now but for forever. Also love will change in unexpected ways and is not a constant thus you have to adapt and realise that there will always be something you do not know about each other and about your love for each other and accept that fact.

The best way to truly test his love is to change something about yourself or reveal a secret that you know will trouble him and see if he will adapt. This is not without its dangers - you have to pick something reasonable and you should only use this only once when you both seem to want to commit.

You also have to ask him to tell you a secret to test yourself and whether you can adapt and thus ready to commit.

I think your boyfriend is referring to the idea that no-one really knows what love means anymore. It sounds like he wants to make you happy, so whatever love means to you, then he feels that. Don't be put off by the fact that Prince Charles said it... I hear he's quite the lover!

I think he's taking the relationship for granted. He doesn't know what a lucky ****** he is. May be he does love you but isn't able to express it as you would like him to. Anyone who quotes Prince Charles in matters relating to Love needs kick up the backside in my opinion!

A serious question should be given a serious answer. His answer tells me he is either too young to know or frightened to answer.
I'm not trying to make you negative but love is not something to be taken lightly and we all deserve to experience true love at least once in this life.So be sure when you commit.

OK, so quoting Prince Charles is kind of lame.
But "Do you love me?" is one of the most annoying questions a man can be asked... so I might, on occasion, be tempted to give a stupid reply.

BTW "Is he or isn't he" what?
