Absolutely. Expect to get a major sniff-down, though. Cats are very smell-oriented and they will want to know about what you've been up to all that time. If your cat acts funny or hisses it is because you smell and/or look different, and because of the (good) stress of you coming back (it's a change in the environment they've been used to for a year.) Don't worry if that happens, give kitty some space and she'll be back to normal in a week or two. One halloween, my cat hissed at me because my costume smelled and looked funny and he didn't understand it was me. Congrats on coming home soon! Thank you for everything you've done and best wishes for the future!

That is the cutest question ever!! When I went away to college for 9-10 months at a time, my cats recognized me after a few hours. They had to sniff me and make sure I was OK.
Your kitty might hide, but it'll come around.
Thank you for all you have done for our country. God bless all of you.

Yes, I think so... My dog recognized me after I left him for 5 months when he was only 5 months old... I think the cat should recognize you as well... Have a safe trip home!

You cat will miss you, but will alway reckonise you. The hard thing will be that cats are loyal and you have to be sure that the person you leave your cat with will be in close contact when you get back, because your cat will be loyal to them as they will be the ones feeding and looking after it.

My friend gave me her cat when she went overseas and he loves seeing her but finds it hard when she goes because he does not know who to go with :( :(
