No, they may get depressed from loosing sleep and all the changes but post partum has to do with the changing hormones. Post Partum depression can be very serious.

obviously some of these people have never attending parenting classes are seen a councillor- for that matter have probably never had baby and suffered from post partum depression...because yes a man can suffer from it...
A new baby can effect both father & mother- a man can become depressed just as easily as the new mother- Although there are more cases with the mother having it- its not all that uncommon. My husband was diagnosed with it after - my daughter waz born- and I had it when my son was born- They slightest thing would make me go.. Although- his symptoms were different then mine- and sometimes it had to do with the mom paying more attention to the babe- or the no hormones after baby is born to have sex..
Some men put their wives on a pedastol after they have a baby. Some men pull away from their infants cause their scared or they fear about being a not good enough parent... As in the case of my hubby-

I believe they get a form of it, My husband did. It's like planning a wedding for months and all the excitement and preparation. It's the same as with having a baby. After the baby comes there is excitement till reality set in of all the responsibility. Before the birth it was all dreaming and fantasizing about their child. Fortunately when the baby is around 3-4 months old and they can experience all the new exciting things their baby will do, like recognizing their voice and smiling at them then the excitement comes back with every little thing they do

Interesting..probably not "post-partum" but maybe depression from the lack of endorphins he was producing during the constant excitement of anticipation...and now that the baby is born he might be on a lower dose of natural endorphins...and becoming depressed...kinda like the day after Christmas..all the excitement is gone and the hustle and bustle.....I'm not saying he isn't happy about the baby, just more calm now and looking for that endorphin "high"

Supposedly they do, but i think they play on it sometimes 2 get the attention as well. Not like they have 2 carry a baby and then give birth 2 it!

that's a good question but in my opinion i think it would be more of a jealous thing like the baby's out now and shes not as attentive to him anymore and this could cause some depression ?
