If he's not a breed champion, or at least major-pointed, it isn't likely that anyone will want to breed to him. Dogs don't need to be bred - and if they are, it often causes behavior problems. Don't be surprised if he starts peeing on everything in the house, mounting the kids or humping the couch pillows and being snappier once you start breeding him. You should be going into breeding to improve the breed - not to put a few bucks in your pocket. Take a trip to the local dog pound and watch them put a bunch of purebred dogs to sleep just because no one wants them...

If you're still reading, go to www.akc.org and look up Sheltie breeders. The best breeders will show their dogs in breed, obedience and/or field work - and they will be members of a dog club that promotes breeding healthy, good-tempered dogs.

Try www.assa.org - the website of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association. Under the Breeder Network button you'll find links to breeders in every part of the country as well as lots and lots of good information about your Sheltie.
