Yes start yelling ouch. Take your hand away and stop playing for a few minutes they will get the general idea. It works with poodles. I had 3 little poodle puppies and worked well also get it a tug of war thing. Puppies love to play tug.

If you google 'Puppy biting', 'stop puppy biting' 'Puppy training' You will find all kinds of sites that deal with the typical nipping pup. Just like little kids, everything goes straight to the mouth. It is normal & you need to learn how to stop it. If you look up the above sites you will find all kinds of ways to stop it. Each trainer & site have different methods of going about it so you can choose what way you want to go about it.

This is going to sound wierd, but it will work, I have had 3 litters of puppies raised indoors, 8+ pups each time. Believe me, I know what you are talking about.
In the litter, puppies play, and part of that is mouthing(biting). When one pup gets a too hard of a mouthing- he will cry-yelp. the biter will stop. So, when your puppy mouths you too hard- yelp, cry or whine in the tone of a puppy, I almost gaurentee it will stop. This has to be repeated over and over, but they will learn how hard is too hard.
Also, if it will not stop, quit playing immediately, come back to him or her in 15-30 minutes.
Do not tolerate any growling or lips going up, that is an immediate ignore, plus discipline.

My vet told me to:
Hold him up in the air under the front part of the body, leaving the back legs dangling in the air..hold there for 20 seconds. Put him back down and when he bites, repeat. He is suspended and can't do anything. He can't reach you to bite, and he can't run away. This teaches patience and that if he bites, he has to be held up, which he will not like.
This really works but you have to be consistent. Also provide him with chew toys that he cant destroy, or get hurt with.

Puppies bite and chew because they are teething and their gums itch. Rawhide bones or chews will give them something to teeth on and massage their gums. A really good idea is to find an old leather glove and let him chew on it with your hand inside. You can gently massage his gums and play with him at the same time. Puppies are very playful so be careful when you try to correct him.

Bitter Apple Spray, you can purchase this at Petco or Petsmart. Dogs don't like the taste of it at all. Also, with our puppy (he's a pug with VERY small sharp teeth), I point at him and say No very stern, they know they did some thing wrong by the tone of your voice.

The best way to get a dog to stop biting or chewing anything is to use a product called "Apple Bitter". Spray some on your hands or anywhere you don't want the dog to chew and the next time the dog puts those things in his/her mouth, they will get a very, very, very bad taste in their mouth.
In the 5 years, I've had my dog, I've only lost one hat to chewing, not a thing else!!

Get him lots of toys and when ever he bites at you or something you don't want him chewing on give him a toy. He'll get the hint. That's how I got my puppy not to he's 9 months now and the best dog I ever had.

Had the same problem and at the training I took her to they told us to say Ouch really loud when the puppy bit or nipped. It works! She backed off and now when she does it be accident she even realizes it and stops. Also make sure she has lots of her own toys to chew on. Make sure you don't encourage the pup with too much rough play. Good Luck!

Each time it bites you tell it no, and then put the pups chew toy in its mouth. It should get the problem. Just don't let it chew sometimes and not let it when it bites to hard. It gets mixed messages.
