My turkey is big and heavy so I'm wondering if her weight is the issue. I don't want her to be in pain. Eating her is out of the question as we are quite attached to her! I just wonder what can be done if anything. Any helpful suggestions?

Such small bones in birds cannot be set, but may be aligned to some extent. If the toe is broken, you can attach the broken toe to another, that is not broken, by wrapping them both together with some medical tape. If the bird will not leave the tape alone, you may super glue the broken toe to another. Don't worry, the super glue will not harm him (let it dry before you allow him to examine it) and it will wear off by the time the toe heals. By attaching the toe to another, it will ensure proper formation once the bone is healed to keep him from walking on it and causing pain or injury. Bones heal rather fast in all bird species and the toe should heal within ten to fourteen days.

Hope that helps!

Sincerely, Audra

It will heal on its own. Bird's bones heal completely in 3 weeks..if she did break it. If you took her to the vet and they wrapped it..she would have the bandaged ripped off before you even got her home.
Why do people always say.eat it. LOL I have 3 peking ducks that are my pets..we live on the river and people are alllllways making jokes about eating them. Just rude LOL

Keep her from walking around on it. Put her in a little crate and take her to the farm animal vet.

Call your vet... I don't thing they can do anything about a toe but you never know... they might rap it to stabilize it so it won't be so painful....
