You are quite right in your assessment. However, even knowing that the Bible can only be understood once we are in a Spirit and Truth relationship with Christ so that the Holy Spirit can reveal to us the truths of His Word; we are still commissioned to spread the gospel, so sometimes regardless of the question ask - we have to break it down to the simplest, almost evasive answer of the question and get it to the gospel. At least for me that is what I have found to be my witness as I answer questions on Y.A. Even then I realize they might not understand, but if one is under conviction, then it will be understood, and that is what we desire!

Yes, anyone can read the Bible as much as they want and never understand it or be changed by it. If you pray for understanding before you start reading, God will reveal Himself to you by the power of His Holy Spirit. He said You will find me if you seek me with all your heart. If it isn't read for the right reason, you may as well save your time!
